Here's my sad story for the weekend....someone broke into my car on Friday night while I was out doing karaoke. Among many other valuable things, he/she/they took my Discman and 15 of my favorite CDs...including all three of my Emm CDs. Luckily, they weren't in their cases, so I still have Emm's autograph for each album. I'm just going through withdrawal though. I just hate that it'll take weeks for replacement to be sent to me in Washington, DC. Speaking of which.... > i'm gonna die. i'm really gonna die. chantal is baaaaaaack!!!! > May 06, 2000 9:30 club Washington, DC, USA I just went to www.930.com to check out this concert. For that night, the headliner is Mouse on Mars and the opener is Trans Am. How does Chantal fit into this???? I really hope she's not opening for two bands. I was hoping to see an all-out Chantal concert eventually. Oh well. I mailed mine last Thursday (the 6th), and I'm assuming it got there by today (it's not like it had very far to go), but I'd still like to be sure. I'd say my odds of winning are slim and none, but still, I'd like to know that my entry is at least being considered! ************************************************************ Mike Keast (michael.keast@giffels.com) http://www.geocities.com/dtswd/ "When I open my eyes, I'd give anything to see you" ************************************************************ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Apr 2000 11:05:00 -0700 (PDT) From: laura robeson Subject: oac: return of saturn As the case probably is with a lot of you, today the cold, rainy, *just plain poopy* weather just made me want to stay at home and not go out at all costs, for any reason whatsoever (Andrea I'm baffled by that word as well:)... but then I realized it was April 11th, another grand CD Release Tuesday.. and after 4 long years, No Doubt's new album Return To Saturn is out. Now I've been following No Doubt since their Beacon Street Collection days so I couldn't wuss out now.. so I crawled out of my nice warm bed and ventured to Best Buy and bought it. By the way, if you get it soon, you'll also get an extra CD single with a cool little song called "Big Distraction".. anyway, I read a review on CDNow before I went, and they pretty much tore them down. They compared their new music to Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson. Oh man, now that hurts. But what does CDNow know right?? It's been my experience that they've been wrong a lot, and again they are. Just because No Doubt happens to have a predominately young female audience does *not* put them in the same category as Britney Spears. There is absolutely no way to justify that. If anyone's ever heard the Murmurs album "Blender", ROS is like that.. in that it's just a really fun CD. Their somewhat subtle ska sound (how's that for alliteration?) wasn't carried over into this one, and it's all pretty upbeat and jumpy (a word I use when songs make me wanna jump around the room uncontrollably).. also I think Gwen's voice has matured since Tragic Kingdom, there's not so much whininess in it anymore. But if anyone was that bothered by it in the first place, don't ever listen to their first self-titled album, 'cause boy would you be annoyed :) Oh wait! One more thing before I end my rambling session. The pink hair, in my opinion, is so awesome on her. Not since Leisha Hailey in All Over Me have I seen such fitting and kick ass pink hair. :) Okay I'm done, thanks for reading! (if anyone's made it this far) ~Laura ===== Music: breathing of statues.
