Anyone else besides me think the Stereophonics are just brilliant? I recently picked up their latest album "Performance and Cocktails" used, and I absolutely love it. They're playing at the Opera House on April 21st, but unfortunately I have to miss the show because I'm going home for Easter :( In other artist news, there's a good new interview with Sarah Harmer in this week's Eye magazine. For those who aren't familiar with Sarah, she's an amazing singer/songwriter who's best known as the frontwoman for my favourite Canadian band, Weeping Tile (who will apparently be getting back together sometime this year...yay!!). She has a new solo album out, and she'll be playing two shows next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Rivoli in Toronto. I would highly recommend that all Toronto-area Headliners check out at least one of the two shows...trust me, you won't be disappointed. I was also very happy to discover that the new Veruca Salt album finally has an official release date (May 16th), and that they'll be playing at Lee's Palace on May 9th. I know VS won't be the same without Nina, but I'm still really looking forward to that album and show. ************************************************************ Mike Keast (michael.keast@giffels.com) http://www.geocities.com/dtswd/ "Some people wear their heart upon their sleeve. Here's an explanation from Total Blam Blam on the db site: Hip to be where? The release of the American Psycho soundtrack due on 4th April on Koch Records has been put back until April 14th because of legal reasons surrounding the Huey Lewis and the News' track 'Hip To Be Square'. Personally I feel that the song should have been outlawed in the first place, but that's neither here nor there, and it's removal from the soundtrack now means that the CD contains just fourteen tracks of which the third is the 6:01 Mark Plati Remix of 'Something In The Air'. Of course regular readers of 'Blam's Little Spot' (put back this week btw, due to work on the new site) will know that this sort of thing is wonderful for us collectors, and while I realise that the inclusion of the song is purely a reference to the irony of the chapter about Mr Lewis and his friends in the book, I never thought I would be scouring my local CD emporium for a copy of the soundtrack with the aforementioned Huey track! Hold on to your advance copies!! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Apr 2000 12:58:31 -0400 From: "Andrea" Subject: Re: EC/OAC: journal, Stereophonics, Sarah Harmer, Veruca Salt Yo (Yo Ma)! > Anyone else besides me think the Stereophonics are just brilliant?
