Hey Headliners... Well what can I say after reading post after post of what an amazing time each one of you had at Fez Fest I am sooo damn jealous that I feel it necessary to share (or better yet for you people to suffer through) some Emm stories of my very own! I have actually known Emm from her (or what I like to refer to them as anyways) "Holy Joe's days" were she would put on show after show in that Chrismisy club what a friggin surreal atmosphere tailor made for her cosmic voice! (if you were ever there you would know what i am talking about)Then there was that odd ball (yah that would be me) who mouthed every lyrec that came out of her mouth! It was great I would go backstage and chat with her (HAH like there really is a backstage there:) it was almost WAY to good of a secret to go unnoticed! and then week after week inevitably her audience size grew but she would always make brief mention of "this one goes out to the freek at the back" cuz i guess she knew how much I really connected with her! The best story is when i was totally waisted n' ready to puke at the Rivoli ...so my friend took me outside in the back..low and behold Emm was there guitar in hand practicing "sorta human being".... funny thing is she stopped and asked whether it was O.K. for her to use MY guitar... Well of course I explained and said (yes in my drunken state) that I was just sent there by management to listen in for any mistakes ...she loved that line and continued singing half cracking up every couple of seconds or so.... anyways....it was great...n' thats my story! Last but not least I was fortunate to see Chantal at Much on Thursday cuz I work(?) as a photographer for the Excaluber at York-University... Wow what an awesome person first and foremost I actually told her about how much Emm really respects her as a songwriter (something I once discussed with Emm) and we chatted about her marriage to Rane and like very easy goin causal kinda stuff! O.K. really this is my last comment... I AM DYING SEE PICTURES AND HEAR THE GODDESS HERSELF SO PEOPLE FROM THE SHOW WHATCHYA WAITN FOR ALREADY.. O.K. I guess i am bit edgy that all of you had such a great time and I was slavin with essay work wahhh(... (smiles) Actually, I'm sure that Emm won't ever forget us dedicated Torontonians/Ontarians... here lies the largest collection of rabid Emm fans the planet has seen. I don't know if I would try to interpret her moving to upstate New York as a sign that she's leaving T.O. behind; she probably just needs a change of scene. But then again, who am I to speculate. The reality of the situation at least for this summer is that Emm will probably be doing less shows in general. That's kind of sad from the fans' perspective (since last summer I had an awesome time seeing all those Living Room shows, etc.) but it's important to realize that for an artist -- any artist -- such frequent appearances are probably the exception rather than the norm. I am eagerly looking forward to "Dead Relatives" though, as I'm sure everyone else is. Hey, with a throughput of one album per year, maybe Emm could match Ani Difranco in prolificness?
