Just picked that up last weekend after hearing so much about her on HG and elsewhere. Quite good - it took me awhile to get into the album, and I still find it a bit uneven, but she's definitely got potential. >She'll be touring with Macy Gray this summer. Now *that's* an interesting combination. >Anyway, you might have heard the single "Charm Attack" on the radio >or in >an ad for a movie (I think it's called "Whatever it takes"?!? >I can't >remember now)... Most of the stuff is better than the >single, though I think it is sure to be a big radio hit.... Very obvious first single, incredibly catchy... It's already catching on at radio here, and no one even knows who she is yet. I agree, it's bound to be a big radio hit, which will in turn spread the word abotu her, which is probably the label's thinking behind releasing that particular song first. I'm irritated that they chose to market the song with that stupid insipid teen movie, though - they're really milking it - there's stickers on the CD that read, "Charm Attack, featured in the hit movie blahblahblah...", plus it's in the TV ads for the film, etc. etc. And this is a chick who got irritated when Jane magazine asked her about what her favorite beauty product was (hmph, Jane likes to think they're so cool and different, but they're the same as all the rest of those beauty mags - but that's another rant for another time ;-)), so I really don't think she'd be too happy about being associated with that particular film... Ah, the marketing side of music - it really gets to me sometimes... - - Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V3 #80 **********************************
