Spoiler...... This is a review of the cd... Sarah Mclachlan: I Love You (BT Mix) This compilation starts off with a high energy verion of I Love You. It is truly amazing how they can transform such a slow and mellow song into such a speed trap. I must admit that I am a sucker for dance remixes of songs, and this is a brilliant one, keeping the song intact, without going into mere sampling of verses. It truely make you want to dance around the room with the lights flashing off the mirrorball. Sasha: Xpander Puro techno mix of beats and sounds. This song continues the upbeat energy from the first track and provides some awesome electronic vibe. I could only imagine what kind of high this song could bring if dropped with the proper mix of glowstick magic and ecstacy. Delerium: Heaven's Earth (Matty Darey remix) The title of the track says it all. It's like experiencing high speed flight through the clouds and upwards towards the heavens. The beats keep you moving faster and faster almost beyong the sound barrier. The vocal tracks by Kristy Thirsk is practically angelic. Filter: Take a Picture (Hybrid Mix) Hybrid really mixes up a great version of Filter's song, and brings it to higher lengths, with a good mix of fast and slow. It practically toys with you like a drug induced rollercoaster ride through space. zero gravity baby. BT: Dreaming (Tiesto Mix) You gotta love when a song leads you from growing anticipation, and throttles you into electronic bliss. If I was dreaming, i would would probably die from epileptic shock from this song, but I would die a happy man. Moby: Bodyrock (Hybrid's Bodyshock remix) I picked up Moby's album play a couple of months back and I thought it was brilliant. The mix of Bodyrock truly lives up to the original and adds that extra twist that truely rocks yer body and sets you free. Povi: Dragonflies ( Uberzone's strapped to your bed mix) Povi is one of new electronic flavoured artists picked up on the nettwerk label. If you don't have "Life in Volcanoes", what are you waiting for. This mix of dragonflies truly has an erotic, electronic flavour to it, with a very uberzone feel with the the bass samples recognizable from the sweet surrender mixes. Moloko: Sing it Back (Tee's Radio Mix) Can you say dance, dance, dance. A bit more tame than the rest of the compilation, but definitely dance floor friendly. So put on your shiny plastic pants and get down to the groove. The Chemical Brothers: Under The Influence If you weren't under the influence up until now, The chemical Brothers could definitely take you there. These boys totally know how to peak you interests and totally know how to get you high especially when you have dropped. They are musical tailors of beats and samples and groove and will definitely keep you in the right groove Beth Orton: Central Reservation (Ibadan Spiritual Life Radio Edit) Truly a campy version of Central Reservation, with a wonderful bass line that almost has a spanish influence to it, but still keeping you in that dance mood. Like I said I am a sucker for dance remixes and this one would just suck me onto the dance floor Overall thoughts I was a big fan of the first Plastic compilation and was very excited when the second one was released. However the second one never really grabbed me like the first volume did. When I found out there was going to be a third volume in the Plastic series, I was both excited and weary. This compilation was truly woven together with care, unlike the second installation of plastic. From the first beat on the Sarah track to the last beat on the Beth Orton track, this compilation takes you on a trip and doesn't let go of you the entire way. This is definitely a cd to play on the open highways, just don't get caught speeding, cause you will definitely want to speed. Warning this album is not for the weak at heart and may cause heat exhaustion from excessive dancing. make sure to pack a water bottle for your trip. And for those that aren't fans of dance and electronic music, it is worth buying the cd even for just the one Sarah track. Enjoy. Plastic will be released on March 28th 2000. **************************************************** Rannie Turingan Toronto, Ontario, Canada ICQ:3857207 AIM:ranzTO http://www.aquezada.com/~rannie/ **************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 Mar 2000 13:22:13 -0500 From: "James McGarry" Subject: Re: help me help me say thatt youll help me - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Urban" Sent: Friday, March 24, 2000 1:05 PM > On Fri, 24 Mar 2000 07:21:41 kristy radford wrote: > >can anyone remind me what the title of the Cardigans song is from the boys > >dont cry soundtrack??? i actually just features NINA of the cards along > >with another band i think....anyway i love it and must find know. > > The song is by Nina Persson and some other guy...Nathan Larson or something... and > the song is called "The Bluest Eyes in Texas" and I luv it too!!! Anyway, you might have heard the single "Charm Attack" on the radio or in an ad for a movie (I think it's called "Whatever it takes"?!? I can't remember now)... Most of the stuff is better than the single, though I think it is sure to be a big radio hit.... Check her out... Her music reminds me a bit of Mazzy Star... maybe PJ Harvey? When I started reading what you all said about Shudder to Think, the first thought that came in my head was "hey wait, nobody's even mentioned HIGH ART!!" but then, to my delight, Chelle of course knew and pointed out that they did the soundtrack for it. You rock!! :) I'm so glad at least one other person on this list loves that movie as much as I do. Too bad I'll never be as good a photographer as Lucy.. :) Anyway.. my main point was to tell Chelle that she rocks. :) ~Laura P.S. While wandering around Bowling Green tonight I went in this music store to inquire about a beautifully awesome Tara poster they had in the front display.. of course they wouldnt give it to me, jerks. But- I found a nice big bin of used CD's on sale for real cheap, aren't those the best?? I ended up getting a Bijou Phillips single, Morley's Sun Machine Selections, and Imogen Heap "i Megaphone"... anybody have any opinion on the last one?? I recognized the name so I had to check it out.. sounds pretty cool so far but I just thought I'd ask for your wonderful opinions on it. ===== Homepage: http://www.angelfire.com/oh/laurasmusicpage Instant Messenger: Trinity51682 "i don't know what makes me happy just give me joy and make it snappy." *wild strawberries* __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
