AWESOME, AWESOME, taste in music. I must say, i'm more than a little pissed off though, because Yo La Tengo's "And then Nothing turned itself inside out" was one of the 7 CD's stolen from my rental car when some low life broke into it while I was in Toronto last week to see Tara MacLean. So I was just starting to really get into that CD, and now i've not had a chance to listen to it since. i'm not a happy man. If you haven't heard Yo La Tengo yet, folks, give 'em a listen. F*cking brilliant, I tell you. While I love the new album, I've got to say "Painful" is still my favorite by them, but "I can hear the heart beating as one" is also really very good. And Bloodflowers by the Cure; does anyone do melancholy better than Robert Smith? my other 6 CD's stolen from the locked glove compartment of my rental car: Live, "The Distance to here", I Mother Earth, "Blue Green Orange", Sarah Slean, "Blue Parade", Lisa Loeb, "Tails", Smashing Pumpkins, "Machina: Machines of God", and Built to Spill, "Keep it like a Secret" -- all very good CD's, a couple of them just bought the week before -- needless to say I wasn't too happy. Oh, and while i was in Toronto, I picked up Ivanna Santilli on "let's talk about" Andy's recommendation... brilliant as well. very jazzy; i like it a lot. not to mention the fact that she's pretty darn hot. pax, Rob ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 17 Mar 2000 09:14:11 -0500 From: rturingan@dico.com Subject: cds ( stuff i recently got) Hey Kids These are some of the cds i got in recent weeks... atb: movin melodies I needed to get some new, lets drive really fast music, and I really love that raver song "9PM (Till I Come)" song.. it totally grooves me. zoebliss: for the beauty of ruins Not as trippy as their first album, but still a good album. A pretty strong sophmore album for this band. Madonna : American Pie single Okay , despite what most people think I like this remake of the song, and the dance remix is awesome. American Pie Soundtrack Okay I found it in a used store, the week it came out, so I HAD to pick it up.. their a quite a few gems on here, from Christina Aguilera (yes I DO like her) to Beth Orton, Olive, Madonna and more. It pretty good. Michaela Foster Marsh: Fairy Tales & Death of Innocence I'm really loving this cd. I likly and finnally got a chance to see her at CMW and she put on a pretty good performance, considering, I haven't heard her stuff until then. (which is a good sign in my books) Rayanne: Until it all fades great work on her first release, great producing and mixing on both Emm's part and on Jessica Weiser's part... I can't wait to here more of her stuff recorded. There were other cds I wanted to pick up.. but haven't had a chance... I've been a big Air fan for quite a while now. I seem to favour _Moon_Safari_ over _Premiere_Symptomes_ for some reason. Maybe it was just the Kelly Watch the Stars video. I don't know. That they did the Virgin Suicides soundtrack was a bit surprising... Also check out Saint Etienne, Sarah Cracknell has a solo album out soon (now?) too.
