It's been a good month or so (believe it or not) since i've pulled out Original Leap Year; my CD player has been wrapped up listening to newly purchased discs by Our Lady Peace, The Cure, Bif Naked, Fiona Apple, Ani DiFranco, Sarah Slean, Dido, and Train. So I decided to listen to it this morning and boy did i miss it. i just love all the "slow" songs on that disc, Fetching Decay, Headline Girl, etc., but the one that really strikes me over and over again is Doomsday. That song is just so affecting. Everytime i hear a beautifully sad song by Emm (like Acid, Doomsday, Idaho, Safety in Solitude), i just want to cry my eyes out, but at the same time, it makes me want to hear more. all this talk of this new "Parting Song" is getting me excited for some new Emm material. I need more EMM!!!!!! Well, enough of my non-essential, non-relevant ramblings... just thought i'd share. Rob NP: "I've had one hell of a life" p.s. has anyone ever listened to Katell Keinig? she sang backup on some of Natalie Merchants stuff and has a CD out called "Jet" that is pretty good. just wondering if anyone else has heard anything by her. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2000 13:53:20 -0500 From: dana wagner Subject: Re: I know we've been to hell and all that... i completely in every way possible agree with rob. i've actually been listening to OLY nonstop for days now, and just keep going back and listening to "doomsday" over and over. it's honestly one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. i thought hook machine was my fave on there, but when i went back and listened i was completely floored all over again by doomsday. the lyrics, everything emm does with her voice.... brilliant. i think she played it at the nutley lrc -- i would *love* to hear her do it live. dana - -- Dana Wagner University of Pennsylvania, Class of 2000 go elsewhere --> http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~dwagner "rushing to slow the decay i don't care what the people say days burn up like weed and we're still the same." -e.g. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Mar 2000 12:38:22 -0800 From: "Mark Urban" Subject: Katell Rob was apparently listening to Katell's "One Hell of a Life" as he wrote: >p.s. has anyone ever listened to Katell Keinig? she sang backup on some of >Natalie Merchants stuff and has a CD out called "Jet" that is pretty good. >just wondering if anyone else has heard anything by her. She only had time to play Julia.. but it was awesome! And her hair was pretty rad too.. all up in little pony tails all over her head. She talked beforehand about the living room tour and a little about Bowie. Oh and they also showed a short clip of her video before a commercial, it looks pretty awesome, too bad they'll never play here :( I recorded it of course so anyone in the Toledo area, feel free to drop by and watch it ;) Have a great day everyone! ~Laura ===== Homepage: http://www.angelfire.com/oh/laurasmusicpage Instant Messenger: Trinity51682 Voice Mail: 1-888-Email-Me (username: LilithChic) "..ever since I met you on a cloudy Monday I can't believe how much I love the rain." *C.K.* __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I dunno bout the Nutley show... tho DO know Emm played "Doomsday" one day back in august (?) at the infamous Horse Farm \ Living Show Room in Orangeville. You could just imagine how surreal it was... rolling fields... horses... and nothing to be heard for miles except for Emm's hauntingly beautiful song echoing "throughout the land" =) twas tres kewl ;) ~chelle (just rambling like the others...) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2000 21:33:58 -0500 From: "Andrea" Subject: songwriting contest :) http://home.iturf.com/o1/custom.d/contest/garage/contest_frame.html pretty cool contest :) i know there's talent out there, good luck people! - - signing off again...andrea ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2000 22:29:48 EST From: HulaCherry@aol.com Subject: Dido/Tara MacClean Hey all. .
