Right now i'm listening to Fiona > Apple, Sept. 1996, playing Morning Becomes Eclectic on KCRW. I LOVE IT! :) Ahhh. MBE brings back some fond memories. Many memories of me trying to stay awake to listen after coming home from work, falling asleep during the performance, then waking some time later still listening in a half asleep/half awake state. A very surreal experience :) Anyhoo, Emily, here are some other good sites to bookmark & become addicted to: RealAudio http://www.mlive.com/cafe/ (the best acoustic performance site out there) http://www.lalive.com/ (another good, diverse selection) http://www.iuma.com/ (TONS of songs from independent bands) http://www.emmgryner.com/emmtourdiaries.php (can't forget Emm's tour diaries!) http://www.doritos.com/live.html (recently had Tara MacLean performing :D) http://members.tripod.com/~simply_jewel/audio.html (a good selection for Jewel fans) http://members.xoom.com/venusfruit/ (some good Tori Amos stuff) MP3 http://www.mp3.com/ http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/21/jessica_weiser.html (just trying to give ya some additional exposure, Jessica ;D) http://www.geocities.com/Baja/Dunes/6009/ (definative site for rare Cranberries songs) http://www.sinead-oconnor.com/sinaudio.htm ("nothing compares" to Sinead ;D) http://www.ubl.com/fp.asp?layout=main_front_page (a good starting point for a search) And a lot of others that currently escape my memory & my bookmarks! (seems i always tend to leave before i get autographs, eh andy?)turns out my friends went and hung out with sloan until 2 am or so, then got everyone's autograph... and they got an autograph for me but, it seems that somewhere between last night and today my poster *with the autographs* was lost... so, i don't have anything to remember sloan by... except the feelings of sickness i had during the show... great valentine's day, eh? Althought lately it hasn't seemed like it is often enough ( oh I am not complaining) As for the show on thursday, I won't be there... Mari's birthday....but of course I will be at the Horseshoe show. Jodel don't forget the Dayna Manning/Dido/Tara maclean Show on the 8th.... That show is gonna rock.. I can't wait. I'll be there with my camera in hand and with lots of film. As for Watches.... geeze I still owe Emily hers.... sorry sweetie i haven't forgetten about you.. Back in the day, you used to be able to find them at Toys R Us, in Canada. However, Lauren did find one at a Toys R Us in NYC once. In Toronto, you can also find them at F/X, Sugar Mountain, and sometimes the occasional Shoppers Drug Mart. I have also been to a couple of convience stores and found them there as well. According to the infamous Kristy Radford, the orginal red (worn by Kristy) and Yellow (worn by Emm) were bought at a convience store in Grimsby, Ontario. Some more history on the watches. They range in the 5 to 7 dollar range and come with bubble gum inside. Once empty, you have a coll compartment that can store, change... Guitar picks.. and other cool little things. In Toronto, they are really popular with Rave kids, due to their funky colours and hidden compartment that could easily store E and other mind boggling drugs. I believe that they are distributed by the same company that imports chupa chup lollipops. Other habits of headliners are driving insane distances to see Emm and other headliners, as well as a fascination with footbags or hacky sacks...photography or songwriting or webpage design... We definitely are a motley crew, but it's all good... and in the wise words of Andrea " It Could be Worse" Cheers Rannie What an awesome feel-good email from Johnnie! I haven't seen the watches at Toys R Us recently but I talked to this raver chick who said her and her friends bought ought their entire stock of about 75 in one day. But supposedly they can be found at the K-Mart in the East Village. They've been popping up other places in the US though. Mary found some in RI I think for $2. Oh, and kr bought the original BLUE. I believe tlc has claim to the original red...props to Trish for making the best use of her watch by actually turning it into a pick projectile.
