Most magazines are more than happy to sell you back issues, usually $4-10 each. The YM website, www.ym.com, has no useful info whatsoever, so I'd hope down the the nearest bookstore and look inside a recent issues for contact info. Not to say that they're keepers - I still need to run them by the Committee - always need to bounce art off willing ears. Songs such as Wisdom Bus, Julia, and Boy Races probably would never have been recorded if I didn't get a second opinion. On the other hand, which songs are floating around in the bottom of a box because they were written off? I wonder if anyone would care to hear a record of demos, unreleased stuff and, dare I use the word, "rarities"? Maybe we should discuss this on the Message Board." So, get on over to the Emmbassy board and reply under my "rareties record" subject in the "Questions for Emm" section... please and thank you. MailCity. I am presuming this will be a general admission show. Like I said yesterday, tickets are being sold through Ticketmaster Canada... if you go to http://www.ticketmaster.ca the info is under the section TICKETS ON SALE TODAY.. FYI: The Phoenix Concert Theatre is a really cool Club space, which occasionally holds concerts and such, It is a large dance/ floor space with a long bar along one side, as well as a cool balcony.. I'm not sure what the capacity is, but I'm presuming somewhere between 500 and 1000. Quite a number of other big acts have played there, Tori, Alanis, Emm etc... I hope this helps you out Steph, can't wait to see you and Rob again... and I can't wait to see Dido for my very first time. Of course it will be a pleasure to see Tara once again. Cheers Rannie (lemme know if you need more info..) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Feb 2000 23:04:41 -0500 From: "Andrea" Subject: Re: YM Can someone with the magazine share the date and issue of this YM please? > One effective method I know of- that I of course have never put into practice > myself- is stealing magazines from libraries. Stealing from libraries > isn't sacraligious! Listen, that wasn't "stealing." It was "liberating." The Kosher sign has now escaped the evil clutches of The Food Emporium and been relocated to a much happier and more kosher environment. (They sell HAM at the Food Emporium. And it is NOT kosher ham.) And the Food Emporium still owed me $1.50, the extra I had to pay to buy a box of frosted Cheerios because they didn't have Honeycombs. Now with the release of the movie MAGNOLIA, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and the album, 'Music From the Motion Picture Magnolia', these two creative forces have fashioned a new way to see and hear the movies. Comprised of eight MANN originals, a cover of the Harry Nillsson classic 'One' and a pair of Supertramp classics, the memento and inspiration behind the movie, should be no less inspirational live. APOLLO FOUR FORTY - At Lee's Palace in Toronto on Sunday, February 27/00. In a decade that has seen electronic music grow to reach a global audience, APOLLO FOUR FORTY have always managed to stay at the forefront of dance and club culture. Founded in Liverpool in 1990, APOLLO FOUR FORTY has been making classic dance tracks since the beginning. Throw in the fact that the boys in the band have been busy mixing for the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Manic Street Preachers and Puff Daddy and you realize that they have a mission: to introduce the world to their original daft punk mixed with electronic chaos. With the release of their third album 'Getting High On Your Own Supply', APOLLO FOUR FORTY has launched themselves onto another fearless exploration into diverse sounds, combining new musical elements with some live rock 'n' roll into their already dense, seamless weave of techno, drum 'n' bass and electronica funk. Come see what the fuss is all about. TARA MacLEAN - At The Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto on Wednesday, March 8/00 Discovered while singing on a B.C. ferry, TARA MacLEAN released her debut album 'Silence' in 1997. Critical acclaim soon followed as well as 2 years of straight touring for the likes of Paula Cole, The Barenaked Ladies, Garbage and dates on various Lilith Fairs. Now TARA has released 'Passenger', an album laced with apocalyptic imagery and themes surrounding birth, death and rebirth. TARA MacLEAN will be joined by special guest DIDO. BELA FLECK AND THE FLECKTONES - At the Warehouse in Toronto on Wednesday, March 8/00. Bela Fleck. Jeff Cofflin. Victor Lemonte. Future Man. Four individuals. One unique vision. As BELA FLECK & THE FLECKTONES they travel between the lines that separate pop, funk, jazz, rock, folk, classical and bluegrass. With their latest release, 'Left of Cool', BELA FLECK & THE FLECKTONES continue to use their artistry and imagination, crossing formats and combining genres in the compelling ways that continues to wow critics, win over audiences and always, have the respect of their peers. Their last performance in Toronto sold out in a matter of days and this date promises the same quick sell. TINA TURNER - At the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Sunday, June 4/00 TINA TURNER is back - with a vengeance. Her latest album 'Twenty Four Seven' was released yesterday and she is taking this occasion to announce her return to what she does best - entertaining live audiences with unprecedented energy and enthusiasm - a delivery that would wear out wannabes a third of her age. Renowned for her classics such as 'What's Love Got To Do With It', 'Private Dancer', 'Simply The Best', 'I Don't Want To Fight' and her latest single 'When The Heartache Is Over', Tina maintains one of the most indestructible, original voices in soul music. With six decades of live experience behind her, she can not help but make you love her, root for her and respect her. Joining Tina is another legend in his own right ... Mr. Lionel Richie who has for as long as we can remember, been crooning and dancing along with his slew of hits including 'Hello', 'All Night Long' and 'Dancin' On The Ceiling'.
