It was different from the other time I saw her because she actually played her own material and let me tell you I think the new album will definitely be worth buying. She said it will be out in May, I think the 14th. And her stage presence is astounding. I saw her doing sound check and when she came out for her set she was completely transformed. So one of the highlights of the evening was the special guest pianist for one song. Yep, none other than Emm Gryner. Not really much else to say about Emm, except she did have one kickass coat on! It was white and very fuzzy. I was told Holly doesnt have anymore shows scheduled but hopefully there will be many more very soon!!! Right, you were, um, At The Ex, right? :-) I think my favourite Emm show would have to be the horse farm living room show in Orangeville, just because we were quite far out in the wilderness that when Emm stopped playing, you couldn't hear *anything* -- it was dead silent. That is what I call cool. The most fun would have to be the Port Dalhousie show, except for the fact that I cannot follow written directions for the life of me, and hence ended up in Brantford after the show, instead of Guelph, where I was intending to go. The first time i saw her was in Kitchener at the Circus Room... Kristy was there (but i didn't know her yet) and I drove up with Steve Ito and Julian, and saw James there. At the time I was starting to get into EMM BIG TIME... For a first time exposure... it was a great show. Humble and Fred was cool, cause she played "Holiday" and I got to see the Wild Strawberries and Barenaked Ladies.. and I met Mark Urban for the first time... (apparently trish was there) and Andy and Tab were there... hmmmm The nathan phillip square show was cool, but FREEZING COLD... The best part was after, when I brought Chelle to get an autograph, and she was totally dumbfounded and barely said a word... and I did all the talking. The first Living room show was AWESOME.... officially met Kristy, and Trish... Mark made it out... and Julian and Lisa... And then I got to meet Emm's parents afterwards at the port Dalhousie show.... remembering riding the carousel with kristy (definetely not the last time that happened) and jamming with her during Emm's set. (Happy Birthday Kevin Fox!!! lol) The Grand Bend show is the next to come to mind... that was an awesome trip.. with Andy and Trish... hanging out backstage and meeting everyone, including the amazing Mr. Michael Murphy (YOU ROCK!). and catching crash test dummies running around in boas.. (Happy Canada Day) Hearing alot of new songs... especially Science Fair Stuff... (well this happened a bit at the port Dalhousie show too) I enjoyed the Harbourfront Splash show... I like that venue.... remembering the boat with the blaring music "here i am stuck in the middle with you" Edgar at the Balkan Benefit... and the emm watch mention to store guitar picks, from a conversation i had with emm during our photo shoot just hours prior... The horse farm show... running around toronto, to find a toys r us with Gum Watches.... and doing bubbles and hacking.... CN Tower show...... getting stopped by another fan (Mike) and him telling me that my pics were cool, seeing Emm play Bass for the first time... met priya... C'est What? ... it was great of her to do the show for us and be the special SURPRISE guest LOL.... And lilith was a great performance, she definitely had the crowd going and then they pulled here from the stage... (awwwww) and her noticing me and chell during the finally and Kristy taping it all. there was Trish's Living room show... soo much talent.. that's all i have to say... YOU AQUEZADA GIRLS ROCK... all of you in your own unique ways.. Beachfest was a cool gig, met nat for the first time, from this point on.. Steve finally acknowledged me and chatted and stuff.. tres cool. Burlington.... meeting Jodel and friends... and HACKING our brains out... and getting to do special requests... Now... all these shows were great... but I think Emm's best shows were probably the ones that I have seen between September to December (which in comparison to the summer were very few..) I saw Emm at the FEZ, then in London at the Embassy, Followed by the Trinity show and then the Ted's show... Now I have a number of Comments to make about these... There were all Absolutely memorable shows... and I don't know if it is because absence makes the heart grow fonder? or it may be the influences of Holly Palmer and David Bowie (which I have definitely seen in these shows. ) This last few shows, Emm has displayed a renewed energy and stage presence that has surpassed any of her previous shows. I still remember fondly how great it was to hear emm at Ted's and how EMMazing she sounded, such power and presence on the stage. Seeing her at Trinity and seeing the superstar inside her shining through, and at the fez, both during here set and her doing backup vocals for Holly's set. Oh Michael Murphy, I would die to get my hands on a copy of this show... BOTH sets...., I remeber how awe struck I was. It was awesome... WOW... There are also many memories that go with alot of these shows that can not be replaced. All these people that I have met along the way and all the fun we all had together. It was an outstanding year.. all around... I hope you all have fun at the New Jersey Living room shows.... and everything else that is coming up. I can't wait to see the Julia Video... Cheers and hugs to all.... Last night I had an "Emm Gryner dream" <1> It was odd, I don't remember alot about it, but these are the few details i do remember, Me and my sister(chelle) were in the park, walking our borrowed dog <2> Anyway, we get to this empty bandstand type place in this park and people are beinging to gather for some sort of show, there was nothing on stage, but somehow we knew it was an emm show. We find a place to lounge with our dog and we see THE BAND on stage. <3> So we move in closer.... When we resettle into place we look up at the stage and then all of a sudden there is like an entire orchestra on stage with them <4> I was playing with the dog and for some reason I had to go... upon my return Emm had started, she was playing some sort of Christmas song, forget which one and after that, it was over, and I had missed most of the concert.. I find my sister go into my bag for my camera and it proceeds to break into like a dozen pieces I think I woke you after that part and was kinda upset all around... Weird but true..... So have anyone else had an Emm Dream <5> <1> maybe with all the talk of sarah Mclaclan dream on fte, this was triggered for me <2> In the past month, I have been getting alot of dog exposure, and have decided that when I move out of the house i am gonna get one. <3> The entire band, Kevin Fox and Steve... sorry I don't remember Fil being in there. <4> could this be because I keep seeing that darn Beaty and the beast commercial on much music..... Metallica and some orchestra in concert <5> Wierd, thinking about it some more, I haven't had any dreams that i could recall in a LONG time....
