I know he's not all that critically acclaimed these days (save for a few astute critics who know what they're talking about ;P, e.g. The Star's Philip Marchand), which is a bloody shame, but he's always unique and fascinating to read, IMHO. >find his stories very entertaining. However I am truely excited to I don't think he really *is* a "mainstream" writer, even though GenX was hugely popular at the time. He's well-known, yes, but aside from "Microserfs", his last few books have been basically cult things, embraced by die-hard fans mostly and he's branching out into trying out different narrative structures, especially with the last two novels, "Girlfriend in a Coma" and "Miss Wyoming". >read his newest work of fiction, "Miss Wyoming". I particularly Very weird, very good (And very expensive! Damn hardcover prices! ;-P). Highly recommended. >But if you haven't read anything by Douglas Coupland, go check him >out and Seconded! :-) Julian wrote: >Hmm, I didn't know he was Canadian. Good on ya::: what would we do without you? Angels are androgynous, correct me if I'm wrong? I've been on other lists and the posts are nowhere near as comical, or intelligent. Reading the Nat Post article that was posted, funny to observe that the author sees Emm as merely a writer of melancholy ballads. PUBLIC, for instance, has enough up tempo HIT material to crush that judgement any ol' day. Ah well, the media errs L, R and center... Anyone know where I can get a copy of this Asian Compilation album that has an Emm track on it? Okay, most of the CD isn't worth listening to IMHO (I don't like hip-hop) but here it is: 1. Thoroughbred - Mountain Brothers 2. Promise - KAI 3. Come Go Away with Me - Pinay 4. Assassin - ASIANDUBFOUNDATION 5. Baby Go Bye Bye - DnH 6. Good Riddance - Jar Jar Binks, I mean, Emm Gryner 7. High Powered - KNT 8. Devoted - Julie Plug 9. Let me tell you, with my scanner being crappy and my internet provider booting me off every 3 minutes, etc. it's taken me about 3 1/2 hours to get these up on my page. So PLEASE at least go look at a couple, it would make my time well-spent. Now these pictures look a hell of a lot better in person than they appear online, scanning them takes away all the high quality... but oh well, that's life right? Ok then, go to "http://www.angelfire.com/oh/laurasmusicpage/Emm2000.html" and be sure to tell me what you think! :) ~Laura~ (who just spent 4 hours being a true computer nerd putting these damn pics up online) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
