Did they use their bands? >Did >Sarah play the amazing "Sweet Ones" and "Last Years War?" ... Um, yes, and yes. ;-) Both those songs just blow my mind to smithereens every freakin' time I hear them. That grrl is just way too scarily talented. ;-) And she had a *cold*, dammit! Speaking of which, also of note were a note-perfect, chills-up-the-spine reading of the new acapella tune "Vertigo" (not a single waver in her voice *despite* that pesky bug!) and a lovely little solo run-through of other newie "Duncan". Oh, and James' request of old gem "Sadie" was a rare treat, too. :-) If she'd actually listened to me and played "Elaine" (hmph! ;P), it would have been an absolutely perfect set. >what about Emm and her moving new song "Idaho" (mmm listening to it > >now!)... Tell all! :) Is it just me, or does anyone else get a lump in their throat every damn time she gets to the whispered "it's just another year down" refrain? Um, please hide all the nearby sharp instruments. ;-) But no, , she didn't do "Idaho", although I was really hoping she would. It was more of a Big, Shiny Rock Show (well, Emm-style ;-)), with a bit of a quiet interlude (including a very apt 'Doomsday' in time for Y2K ;-)). I'm *still* high from last night - a double-shot of Emm and Sarah is almost too much for me to handle. Such bliss. I dunno 'bout the rest of you, but that was *my* New Year's party, dammit. ;-) All the best for 2000, y'all. ;) - - Tab :) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Dec 1999 22:04:56 PST From: "Tab Siddiqui" Subject: Re: If you went to the Sarah/Emm show tonight... But I'm a gargantuan Emm fan and aside from Jonovision, I've seen Emm 3 times now, once opening for the Cardigans in Chicago, once at Lilith and once opening for Rufus Wainwright in Guelph. The Ted's Wrecking Yard show was impeccable. A certain je ne sais quoi arose out of it all...I get the feeling that most of you on this list were onstage during "Holiday" and I feel a bit left out. (Could not quite make my way up to the stage from my corner in the rear of the room; maybe next time :] ) I heard talk of some Living Room shows in February, does anyone know more information? As far as I know, tomorrow's New Years Show is Emm's last for quite some time, or so I gathered from her on-stage speech about "going into hibernation" :[. Any of you hardcore Emm fans have any details on what's in store next?? So Y2K is coming swiftly upon us, and although I have no worries, some people around here believe it really is the end of the world, or the second coming of Jesus or something... *Anyways* in case we have to face the end of the world when the clock strikes midnight (but that doesn't make sense, because the new year starts at a different time around the world *shrug*) I just wanted to thank you all for being really cool friends and stuff...and hopefully we'll all survive for the Living Room Tour Round 2!!!
