Tell all! :) > > I'm jealous! ;) Sarah had a cold, but she was a trooper and did right by us. It was so nice to see everyone though, Emm and Sarah and Trish and 'Celle and Andy and Rannie and Steve and Paul and Steve and Tab and Yaz (P.s. to Tab... can we change Yaz's nickname to... Taz? :-) ) and Christine and Nat and Lauren and Rob and... I hope I didn't miss anyone. And I missed Julian* and certain members of the Slean Posse. Sarah did "Sweet Ones" and "Last Year's War"... and "Sadie"! which she rarely does anymore. (not quite as rare as "Elaine" I miss those 'girl' songs) ... ...I wish it didn't seem like it hurt Sarah when she sang, but she's played through colds before. It was just nice to see her for the 42nd(?) time. :-) Emm did some funky opener with a cover of a song that you'll hear at the Sarnia show... ...it'll be a surprise... some rocked out versions of some classic Emm material, Stereochrome, 89 Days of Alcatrez, Acid... and a brief version of Madonna's Holiday... ...here are the lyrics in case this happens again (why am I picturing Mr. Turingan doing all the "moves" ? ;-P) Holiday, Celebrate Holiday, Celebrate If we took a holiday, yeah Took some time to celebrate Just one day out of life, It would be, It would be so nice. Everybody spread the word We're gonna have a celebration All across the world In every nation It's time for the good times Forget about the bad times, oh yeah, One day to come together To release the pressure We need a holiday Chorus You can turn this world around And bring back all of those happy days Put your troubles down It's time to celebrate Let love shine And we will find A way to come together And make things better We need a holiday Chorus Holiday, Celebrate Holiday, Celebrate Alleviate your jealousy Jess, go for sushi, tell me alllll about it. Oh and there's this Thai place just around Bleeker that is to die for... mmmm Nasi Goreng... mmmmm.. And Julian, try the spicy tuna rolls in Van if you get up there... mmmm James. P.S. Only Emm had a band, the ever talented Mr. McGrath and Daniel Bern from that little marvel Forest, ON. You just might see them Saturday... ========================================================================== James McGarry | jmcgarry@UoGuelph.CA - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- An artist should be fit for the best society and keep out of it. - - John Ruskin ========================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Dec 1999 04:39:59 -0500 From: rannie Subject: Now that Emm is Gone, I know something feels wrong... OMG it was awesome, first off Emm was playing the big ROCK STAR role on stage... she looked like a superstar rocker bitch... lol... and her set KICKED ASS big time... I was bopping my head the entire time... She played ACID by request of moi... and Sarah played Sweet Ones by request of moi as well.... lol although i called it the POP SONG (i did know the name though)... She played ALOT of songs from all three albums... stuff that she hasn't bothered to play in awhile... and she played on BASS for a good portion of her set, Stereochrome ROCKED my ass off her whole set rocked my ass off, I swear Emm never ceases to amaze me... but i guess the highlight of the show was definitely HOLIDAY.. Tell all! :) > > I'm jealous! ;) > > Jess > www.aquezada.com/jess OK...I wasn't there Jess...I'm in Florida...but I am going to try to use my psychic abilities here and answer your questions... The sets were amazing! All glittery and stuff...not quit sure where they got the glitter, but I heard that the Macy's day parade this year wasn't quite as glamorous as years past, so that may have something to do with it. They used their bands, which was incredible! Sarah's drummer busted his tom-tom's half-way through the first song, but didn't let that get in his way, because he just took his leather jacket off, strapped it tightly around the drum, and played on that instead! It had pretty good sound too! Sarah played "Last Years War" but didn't get around to "Sweet Ones" due to an interruption by that notorious gangster Gian Covello, who hasn't made a peep in months, I might add. Perhaps he would like to tell his side of this story... Emm played "Idaho", but she sang it acapello. Quite incredible, if I do say so myself... Basically Jess, you missed out on a lot of things tonight. :") P.S. I can get away with this to some extent because many of you know that I am insane, and Jess still owes me for that Amy Jo Johnson tape I made for her... :) - -- Jon Akers Computer Systems Analyst U.F. I couldn't resist... cos if you weren't at Ted's Wrecking Yard last night, wellllllll you missed an ***AWESOME KICK ASS GOOD FREAKIN SHOW!!!!!!!!*** One of the best ones I've seen all year! Firstly, the wonderful and effervescent Ms. Sarah Slean played an amazing set despite battling a cold on stage. I mean DAMN! If the woman can sound that freakin' good when she's sick... ;) Oh and I love "Sweet Ones". SHE *MUST* RECORD THAT SONG!!! And of course the always lovely Ms. Gryner came out on stage in true rocker style! Most of you who have already posted pretty much covered it. About the cover song... OMG!!!!! HOW FREAKIN KEWL WAS THAT!!!?!? If you're heading to Sarnia... I don't wanna ruin it for you, but you guys are in for a real treat! She played quite alot on bass too like Rannie mentioned and Acid was nice to hear live again. Man... words can't even describe how awesome she was!!! I mean I've been to quite alot of Emm shows this year (maybe not as many as Rannie! lol) but not far from... and she's always amazing of course... but WOW!! There was something about the way she played last night... she truly blew me away... And of course I don't think I will ever forget going up on stage to sing Holiday (or attempt to sing it) with Emm!! *sigh* wow... But I must say... I truly am disappointed that *EMM* didn't sing it. I'm a huge Madonna fan... and Holiday is like one of my favourite songs and Emm is like my favourite artist. How perfect could that have been? ***SENDING OUT BRAINWAVES TO EMM*** PLEASE LEARN THE WORDS AND SING THAT SONG FOR ME!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!! *grins* Well...
