CRAZY night, VERY impressive perfs, Rayanne is a Goddess, Birthday Girl is so talented that it's scary (myfriendBryan: "She's NineFrikkinTEEN?!"), and if I publicly compliment Tricia Concepcion any more than I already do, she'll put a restraining order on me. There was a mean guy from Guelph and I would have liked to have been introduced to Dawn, otherwise the night was amazing. Trish, you should have SEEN Kristy's face when she realized it was "Spice up Your Life" that you were singing… too funny… And for Andrea, you were with us in spirit sweetie - you'll do well in school, become a millionaire, open up your own concert hall, and have us all over playing and listening to music, all the time. YAY!! yay! i was going to post about the sad state of music videos these days, and the news of a "julia" video reminded me of my thoughts this week. whenever i go home, ("to study" in this case,) i always get my update in tv, that means much and much more music basically. i get to see 'the bad cool people music' b/c god knows commercial radio sucks and i avoid it at all costs. but anyway...my point is...what's with music videos these days?! people must be really stretching for ideas. things i noticed this time back home: subway scenes (subways aren't that clean!) and the use of that laser light thingy. you know the one i'm talking about? with the bright line across the screen? it's cool but in every single video it loses its effect. > take a double check.. Jeez. Forgot to post about that - it was fantastic. I'll admit to not knowing a great deal about Mr. Stardust , but the show was a good overview of his career and music. It was basically like MuchMusic's "Intimate and Interactive" specials, with live performance intercut with interview questions and career highlight clips. Bowie seemed to be having a good time and was very funny, sharp, and charming in the interview segments. He was also very on in the performance - a lot better than I've seen him in a long time. The band was very tight, on top of their game, and they ran through a good mix of new stuff and old hits. I'm not sure if the show was taped live (I *think* it was), but if it *was*, kudos to that camera crew, my goodness! That was one of the best-shot music performances I've seen in a while, much better than what Much usually does in their own I&I specials. I suppose they had several cameras, because they followed the action so well that the shots seemed to go *with* the music. Nicely done. Lots of close-ups of our gal Emm grooving away (she's got that backup singer dance *down*, baby!) in the background, even more than her pal Holly. ;-) Hey, did anyone catch Emm on MuchEast a couple weeks back (taped it, maybe ?
