In a collection of close to 600 CD's, I too have been running short on inspiring music to listen to lately. i've had a solid rotation of Science Fair, Anything is Everything, Beth Orton's "Central Reservation", Yo La Tengo's "I can hear the heart beating as one", Pavement's "Slanted and Enchanted", and Moby's "Everything is Wrong" going lately, and not much else. it goes in cycles though, something else will be inspiring me next week. anyways, i've also been listening to the tape that Trish made me last week of Emm rarities. so i've come up with a new question to pose for all you listers out there who may be fortunate enough to have a copy of "And distrust it". (those of you who don't have one, "talk amongst yourselves...") i know i read on The Emmbassy somewhere on Emm's website (in the Ask Emm section) that the And Distrust It days are long gone and she is not interested in ever reviving any of that stuff for future albums, BUT if she were to, what song or songs would you like to hear brought back? my vote goes to Safety in Solitude, which i think is a wonderful and gut-wrenchingly emotional song that is rivaled only by maybe Acid in its ability to bring a tear to my eye or a lump to my throat. your thoughts? by the way, I just received my copy of Jessica Weiser's Transition... more inspiring music for me to listen to. what a beautiful and amazing voice. she is a real talent, folks. can't wait for a full length debut. sorry for the long post, Take care, Rob - --part1_0.62eb0025.2541bbbb_boundary Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Return-Path: Received: from rly-za01.mx.aol.com (rly-za01.mail.aol.com [172.31.36.97]) by air-za02.mail.aol.com (v62.10) with ESMTP; Thu, 21 Oct 1999 20:35:21 -0400 Received: from chmls05.mediaone.net (ne.mediaone.net [24.128.1.70]) by rly-za01.mx.aol.com (v62.10) with ESMTP; Thu, 21 Oct 1999 20:35:02 -0400 Received: from smoe.org (jane.smoe.org [24.30.216.55]) by chmls05.mediaone.net (8.8.7/8.8.7) with ESMTP id UAA21759; Thu, 21 Oct 1999 20:34:15 -0400 (EDT) Received: from localhost (daemon@localhost) by smoe.org (8.8.7/8.8.7/listq-jane) with SMTP id UAA01798; Thu, 21 Oct 1999 20:32:59 -0400 (EDT) Received: by smoe.org (bulk_mailer v1.10); Thu, 21 Oct 1999 20:32:58 -0400 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by smoe.org (8.8.7/8.8.7/listq-jane) id UAA01789 for headline-girl-outgoing; Thu, 21 Oct 1999 20:32:32 -0400 (EDT) Received: from imo-d04.mx.aol.com (imo-d04.mx.aol.com [205.188.157.36]) by smoe.org (8.8.7/8.8.7/daemon-mode-jane) with ESMTP id UAA01785 for ; Thu, 21 Oct 1999 20:32:21 -0400 (EDT) From: TrishTLC@aol.com Received: from TrishTLC@aol.com by imo-d04.mx.aol.com (mail_out_v23.6.) id pVMB11sVF_ (3874) for ; Thu, 21 Oct 1999 20:31:43 -0400 (EDT) Message-ID: <0.d8e7ea72.25410a6f@aol.com> Date: Thu, 21 Oct 1999 20:31:43 EDT Subject: Paul Weller's CD(some emm stuff) To: headline-girl@smoe.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: AOL 4.0 for Windows 95 sub 27 Sender: owner-headline-girl@smoe.org Precedence: bulk Hey everyone, I just got back from taking my big bro out. He got his tonsils taken out and he can't drive, so he's been stuck in the house for a week, so we went out to see Superstar and went out to dinner. After dinner, we stopped by the used record store and i was looking for a nice used CD to purchase b/c I am running out of inspiring music. Then I come across a Paul Weller album and flip it over and it has the original version of "You do something to me" on it! So I pop it in the cd player at the store and it is awesome!!! I have to say I like his version better than Emm's. it kinda sounds like something I would write. *gasp* I know you're all thinking, "Trish like someone else MORE than Emm!?" Well, I just like Paul's version of his own song better! Not that emm's is bad or anything. Anyways, i'm listening to the rest of the CD now and it's pretty kick ass. Ooh I also got a radiohead and sarah m. decal for my back window! woo hoo! love and huggy poos, trish - --part1_0.62eb0025.2541bbbb_boundary-- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 Oct 1999 10:18:12 EDT From: Piggio@aol.com Subject: New fans Oh, by the way Trish, my friend Brent (the tall guy who spilled wine on himself; and for whom i was best man at his wedding)... he was one of the smart ones to buy your CD last weekend at the benefit party, and he took it to work with him this week. i talked to him last night and he said EVERYONE at work loves your CD and "can't believe this girl is not on the radio!" just thought I'd let you know you have some new fans. i told Brent to tell them to go to earbuzz.com and get themselves a copy! they really loved Stargazing, by the way. a lot said that was the best song on the cd, but they loved everything. grass roots P.R., ya gotta love that... getting the word out one person at a time! now Brent wants me to lend him a copy of an Emm CD so that he can bring that into work!
