Nice to see that CFRC and Queen's students continue to have good taste in music! :-) I loved CFRC when I was there. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 11:47:19 -0400 From: James Littek Subject: Article about Tricia Hi all, Since many people here talk about Trish's music, another post to hype Trish would probably not be unseemly. Here's an article in today's News-Herald, a local Downriver (down river of Detroit :)) newspaper. Sorry if I'm stealing anybody's thunder by transcribing this. The News Herald September 15, 1999 Page 2-C In The Spotlight by Doris Ludtke Tricia Concepcion Who: A singer, guitarist and pianist, Concepcion, 21, lives in Southgate. What: Oct. 9 performance to promote the CD she just recorded with her brother, Mike Concepcion, "Anything Is Everything." Mike, 28, plays electric guitar and bass. Tricia also plays drums on the CD. The opening act will be Rayanne, a singer from Toronto. Where: Somethin's Brewin' Coffeehouse, 15201 Dix, Southgate. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. Musicial Style: A combination of pop and rock. The artist's music is influenced by the Beatles, Sarah McLachlan, Emm Gryner and Sheryl Crow, she said. Background: A Southgate Anderson High School graduate who is pursuing a degree in occupational therapy at Wayne State University, Concepcion studied piano between the ages of 6 and 13. She started playing the drums at age 12, and during her high school years was a member of the Southgate Anderson Marching Band. Concepcion began performing at cafes and lounges in Toronto a year ago, and at Somethin's Brewin' closer to home. First appearing with her brother and drummer Denis Kester of Southgate, she has been a solo performer since January. The artist producted her CD with Matt Thompson of Rising Sun Studios on Grosse Ile. The CD features 11 original songs, plus the title cut. What the future holds: "I'm not really looking for a recording contract, but if that happens, it would be great," Concepcion said. "I just want to have fun with it and see where it goes." The CD is available at the Record Exchange in Southgate, Borders Books and Music in Dearborn and can be ordered from the web site www.aquezada.com/tricia. - ---------------------------------------------- There's also a b&w photo of Trish playing the guitar and singing, with a drum set in the background. - ---My comment (What?
