As fun as the Ex, would have been...somehow Rannie's Super Sunfire took a slight detour to Southgate, MI! Happy Birthday Trish...The weekend was great! First off, I've been really lucky to have had the chance to see Rayanne, Trish, Jess and Chelle play in very intimate settings recently. Rayanne, you get better every time I see you and I can't wait for your CD! "Untitled" rocks my ass off! Jess, I know you were battling some broncial virus thingy, but you still sounded great to me :-) "The Drive" is my new favourite and I hope you'll be coming up to Toronto to play very soon! Chelle you're awesome! Record "All I Know" and the acoustic version of "FLASH 2" (which I genuinely thought sounded incredible), and I can die a happy Andy C. Trish, you're amazing and I can't tell enough times... I have to say that the best part of the trip was just getting to know some of you better. It was pretty damn cool to be able to sit in someone's backyard, eat, drink and chill with all of you. You guys are all amazing people, I just wish we all lived in the same city... :-( A special thanks to my cool roadtrip buddies: Chelle- guy, you gots a big mouth, but I love ya anywayz......Rannie- you rock, just keep your hands on the steering wheel, I love you man! In fact everytime I hang out w/trish concepcion and the crew I have a fabulous time. to elaborate, I must say the party was awesome. We (roberto, xavier and I) arrived at the party at around 5:15 and were pleasantly surprised that the festivities had already begun. Food, music, gift opening...the works. The music girlz and I then began to set up our equipment and on the show went. Chelle began, and in usual raver style played her awesome song Ecstasy first. She then followed with a more heartfelt songs, including only me (which is beautiful) and All I know. Then I had the pleasure of going on and making a fool of myself, as per usual :p then jess....whoooaaa. this girl gets better everytime I see her play. I totally understand how she brought Tara Maclean to tears. then the bday girl (or should I say rock star) played a couple songs bashfully at Emm's request and totally rocked da house (or eerr, field). then of course ms. gryner went on...played absolutly awwwesome and "blew us all away". I am SO glad she played southern dreamer...what a great song. oh and of course the hook machiene finally with Jess, Trish, Emm, Chelle and I was a memory I will hold forever...5 songwriters, 2 guitars and decked out in crazy world watches (aka, emm watches). So that was the music portion of the evening. Afterwards, I had the pleasure of meeting all sorts of ppl bonded to the music shared over our twilight session. sooo shouts out to : S:)A:)G:)H:)E:)N:), bruce, all of tricia's friends (especially alvin, you rock), the secret circle bunch (shh! you know who you are), micheal m, russel (I got a ride, yay!), xavier the christain and of course sir roberto. This is just hilarious and Weiser reminded me that I forgot to post it in my original post. After Jess Weiser performed, I played and during my set, my little shih tzu, Shaggy escaped from the backyard and was running around the field and he came up to me while I was performing and I'm like, "Hi Shaggy!" And after my song, I put him back over the fence into the backyard. And when Emm was playing Stereochrome, during the solo, she announced it was the solo and said, "Where's Shaggy when you need him?!" I thought that was funny... And then in between some songs, she explained how she was playing a show last August in Pontiac, MI, and some girl named "Tricia" e-mailed her and said she would be at the show and it was her birthday. So emm said she was all excited b/c she had something to talk about in bet. songs and she said, "I have a special announcement, it's Tricia's Birthday...and there was no reply!" I was all embarassed at this time, and Emm says "So, she stood me up on our first date! But I guess it's okay b/c she ended up having dinner with her parents, right?" Okay that's what else happened during her set. Oh and if any of you are getting mad at me for not thanking you for your AWESOME gifts, I am sending you personal snail mail Thank U notes!!! She was shown a total of two times onscreen and it was about 10 seconds of on screen time... Not much but hey it's a start! She was just talking about how it's good that it's the last year because you wouldn't want people to get bored of it. That was the jist of it... I'm sure they'll show it a couple more times, maybe this weekend, check your local TV guides!
