I had the pleasure of meeting some very cool people and of course, seeing Emm play 3 times! Thursday, at Harbourfront was my favourite of the 3 performances. I think Emm is great acoustic, but I love her band, even if she's only playing with 1 other band member. On this occasion , it was Drummer Dude Stephen and together they sounded great! As others have already said, she played an awesome set of both older and new songs and was pretty cool working the crowd that night. My favourites were Julia (despite 'Stuck in the Middle'), 'Stereochrome' and '89 Days of Alcatraz', (imho, one of the best live songs of hers). I apologize to everyone, who may have been afraid of my friend Jen. She's really quite normal ;-) Friday, too was interesting. I enjoyed the other performers a lot -Jen Lord and her guitar...wow. Sarah Slean is just hypnotizing and Trish, you're awesome, that's all there is to it! Emm was cool and all that. Go 'Edgar'! Besides that song, everything else she sang, we heard the night previous. It wasn't a very interesting set list, but that was made up for by Sunday's very different one... Saturday was an Emm-less day. Thanks to Rannie for being chauffer for the day. Next time Chelle and Trish are bringing their guitar to Speaker's Corner and playing damnit! Next time we'll also get that loonie. Sunday...I don't quite remember the set list exactly...'Southern Dreamer', 'Braving December' and 'Doomsday' were the "different" ones. I like 'SD' a lot tho. Another reason to be soooo looking forward to "Science Fair". As the other 2 recent shows, Emm played 'Crazy Train', even tho she asked for requests, she didn't give us much of a choice. She promised she'd play the Tragically Hip's 'Bobcaygeon' "next time...", but we all know about "next time"...::cough, fetching, cough, decay::..(I've come to accept the fact that this song doesn't really exist anymore :-( ) It was a great evening. Personal highlights include the bubble-fied 'Summerlong' and of course, 'Doomsday'....(let TOLY live on!) and getting my ass kicked in hacky sack. Beware y'all. I'm coming back with avengence. ::grr:: Oh yeah, and even though Trish is an awesome hacky sacker, (er hacker?) she's an even better musician. I know everyone who has heard her music will agree. Trish you're amazing! If you haven't heard her yet, go! So to all the cool people... Roberto: Everything Jen said...they're lies, all lies! Michelle: Flash 2 is waiting for its song Rannie: " g e t y o u r a s s u p ! " Julian: I'll make sure Felicity comes next time ;-) Trish: You're welcome to play covers on the pullout bed whenever you want. You're just freaking awesome. Seriously! (And I wasn't kidding about the inspirational tapes.) James, Kristy, Steve, Gian, Tab, Mari, and everyone else I had the pleasure of meeting and re-meeting, I can't wait to see you all again. FRIDAY - Emm at Cest What, but b4 the show... i tagged along with my bro for his photoshoot with Emm, buying toilet paper from Shoppers during the middle of the shoot was pretty funny, and I stole her hairtie... well... she *gave* it to me to hold! (but don't worry, i gave it back to her! i don't know why tho!!) the cest what show, needless to say, was awesome... jen lord must go thru a lot of strings! and of course Trish ROCKED!!! SATURDAY - non Emm day... but I did have a wicked tyme roaming around downtown w\ Andy, Trish & Rannie! Trish... we need to jam together more often! =) SUNDAY - Emm at the Horse Farm\living room(?) show! =) ... we hit Wonderland first & dropped by toys r us to pick up our unofficial "Emm fan club\stalkers" gear (i.e. gum watches & those hawaiian thingies) note => i say we call them "Emm shock" watches! =) anyways... after travelling many-a-mile, we reached the horse farm, played some awesome hacky sack, and blew bubbles while Emm played some live rarities (i.e. braving december, doomsday) that was kewl. well that's pretty much all I have to say bout that and to the ppl who made my weekend sooooo awesome: TRISH - Yeah! I *finally* have someone to hack with! and what ever happened to our "surprise"??? ANDY - bubble tea rawks! oh & don't worry...
