And like radio, the business of videoplay is research-based so the bulk of what's aired is Top 40. 120 Minutes is the exception because (again, like radio) Sunday is a "dead night" so MTV can be a little adventurous with their "alternative music." On the other hand, M2 has a wide format and videoplay usually relies on CMJ/colllege radio buzz (i.e. research). I can't tell you how much research goes into getting music seen and heard. And I'm sure you've all heard stories of the "testing area." I write to an MTV analyst every once in awhile requesting bands I'd like to see on the channel but it still comes down to those VPs who press the play button. All I can say is request, request, request -- everywhere. I've seen it work so many times. Hey I need to know where I can get a good price for a cd carrier thingy. I have one of those book things that can hold 80 cds, and lo and behold, even with 80, I am running out of room-and fast. Sooo...if anyone knows where I can get a cheap cd travel book thing, please let me know. :) (I don't want to pay like the 10 bucks for one, I have no money:) Thanks!! Emily, who has been surprisingly vocal around here the past few days.. ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V2 #147 ***********************************
