Emm is really excited about it (and >so am I!). me too. as i said back at the outset of the universal coup, emm is better off on dead daisy. she has already reaped the benefits of the major label in terms of experience and exposure and doesn't need them anymore. now when she sends her dead daisy disc to the radio stations they will know who she is and science fair won't end up in the dusty bin with all the other indie discs that someone had the gall to send to a "real" radio station (a horrible injustice but that is the kind of thing that happens in the soul-less, corporate world of commercial radio) diyers can still cash in and be rewarded for their talents.. back before she became famous and made rick dee's weekly top 40, Loreena McKennitt used to sell 10k units and make a very nice living while still keeping sale prices down. less cd sales for the same profit means emm doesn't have to become a pop icon to be successful. im sure we can all appreciate that? i've seen it happen before. i used to go to wide mouth mason shows and know half the audience by their first names. now the only way i can get into their shows is on the guest list because they sell out 1000 seat venues. people hassle you when you try to take a few pictures.. man! it sucks bad. i promote emm whenever i can to whomever will listen but im not looking forward to seeing her perform in stadiums. i've been to a couple hundred concerts and if you don't already know: stadium shows BLOW! i saw the stones at the skydome and the only reason it didn't suck is because they had a 5-story video screen. >snail mailing list, you'll be getting something in the mail soon, a >special limited time offer to get her album before its official heeheheeheeeheee! um. ahem. i'll take 10 copies please and thank you:) >And secondly... brace yourselves... Yeah, like two weeks ago didn't I say "OLY should be rereleased!!" ;) Yay. It's such a good album. Emm said Science Fair is going to be more like OLY, in that it is more personal. She also said half the songs will be up-tempo, and half ballads, and lots of cello and harpsicord (coooool). Also, I'm doing an article on her for a fairly big, yet indie, magazine, and I'll post details on it soon. I don't want to say anything more and jinx myself cause I haven't finished it yet and it's been hard enough to write! ;) - -jessica http://adam.nettfriends.com/Jess cd info: www.cdbaby.com/buy/weiser.htm ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Apr 1999 19:34:07 EDT From: Starfall18@aol.com Subject: Re: Dead Daisy Records signs a new artist!
