However, the merger will not happen, and that doesn't bother me a bit, cause we wouldn't gain much anyway, and this list thrives on its own. So thank you all for being so damn cool. :) I went to an open call today to work (for the casting agency I work for) and when I had to walk around (and get lost) in the subways I listened to "Braving december" and "crazy train" all day (I just got my copy *yesterday*!)... So, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on "braving december". It's a very cool song, but some of the lines are sort of cryptic and I'm wondering if anyone had any thoughts on them.... I'm especially curious of what you think of: "genius seeks a model star with a pottery mind"... I have some thoughts on the song as a whole, but I'm curious how others interpret it... anyone? Also, I love her cover of Crazy Train so, so much. :) Early next week I will post the details of a new contest for you all. The winner gets a free, autographed copy of _Public_. The question will be much more difficult than the past contests, though, so I need to think of something unobvious to, in true Emm-fashion, be a trickster and stump you all. ;) Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, and I must go demo my new song. :) much joy, - -Jessica http://adam.nettfriends.com/Jess ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 18:46:31 -0500 (EST) From: Matt Harker Subject: "Crazy Train" I really love her version of the song - can't get enough of it Matt Harker Marketing Major coolbean@Udel.edu MI/DSS Minor U of DE, Newark, DE ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Mar 1999 19:39:40 EST From: Songbird22@aol.com Subject: EC: Juno speculation... In a Canadian news article (auth: mike ross): >BEST NEW SOLO ARTIST: Melanie Doane, Emm Gryner, Bruce Guthro, Hayden >and Tamia. Winner: Close, but Doane's probably the strongest all-around singer, >instrumentalist and songwriter. She looks great, too. Melanie Doane?!? Hayden and Emm are both incredible... I won't make the Melanie Doane fans angry with my thoughts (though I did enjoy a live, bookstore appearance she made while I was in Toronto)... - -jessica ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 06 Mar 1999 21:59:53 -0500 From: "Gian.C." Subject: Emm at the Phoenix (was Re: darn...) Steve said it best when he posted about how Emm keeps getting stronger and stronger with each performance, she was amazing at the Phoenix in Toronto on Thursday. >I'm not one for keeping set lists but she did great versions of Phone Call >45, Wisdom Bus, Crazy Train (went over big with the Cochrane crowd), This >Mad (a capella) and Summerlong, with Tom's band. add Your Sort of Human Being and July in there :) >Unfortunately the show was marred by a scary drunk rocker chick in her >30's. (You know, the type with big platinum hair and still living in the >early 80's). She was making a spectacle of herself before the show, >lurching around in skewed drunken circles in the middle of the floor, and >bending down, swinging her big hair in a huge arc so she could make a big >production of brushing it, then swinging back up, and swinging down >again... this all in the middle of a huge crowded hall. I think she hit on >Gian somewhere along the way, didn't she, Gian? :-) i deny everything, i feared for my life :P >Anyway, it was during "This Mad" when it happened. As Emm sang "No I've >never been this mad", a peculiar wailing, warbling, almost alien sound >emanated from the middle of the crowd... "Noooo.... Noooo.... Nooooo....", >and sure enough, it was scary drunk rocker chick, wailing her blues away, >evidently inspired by Emm's song. i think Emm was very courageous in actually performing 'This Mad' at a venue like the Phoenix in front of a crowd such as a Tom Cochrane crowd, but she did, and performed it beautifully :) welp, just thought i'd add my thoughts, it's a rarity these days ;) take care everyone, - -Gian ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V2 #50 **********************************
