I really like what I've heard of Emm. I saw her open for the Cardigans in Chicago a few months ago. I bought Public and I really love it. I have a couple of questions: Where have you heard other things by Emm? You all discuss other songs that don't appear on Public. Are these from recordings before Public on her own label and not Mercury? If so, where is it possible to purchase these records? Also, I went to the three local CD shops looking for Emm stuff, and lo and behold each had an advance promo copy of Public. My question is if this album is any different than the real version. I doubt that it is. But I thought I might ask. Should I pick this up or not? I'm not really a completist for any artist. Anyway, thanks very much for your time. Aside from the fact that it has no printed lyrics inside, and it has different artwork, it's the same CD. Same tracks and all. - - Julian [ Julian C. There's a complete discography on SteveIto's Northern Sounds site at: http://webhome.idirect.com/~nsounds/emm/emmdisc.htm The index is here: http://webhome.idirect.com/~nsounds/emm/index.html > that don't appear on Public. HMV might still have a few copies of TOLY around somewhere, they have a 1-800 number. Other stuff like Sodium Rainbow and And Distrust It, used record stores in the Toronto area would be your best and likely only bet and you'd have to really hunt (don't know of anyone who would give up copies of these willingly)! from the Northern Sounds site... "HMV Records Canada. Just call 1-800-567-8468, and ask for Emm Gryner's Original Leap Year CD" A number of the, er.. um... Posse(?) have seen Emm perform a lot, mainly around the Toronto area. I haven't figured out how many times for me, but its got to be at least around 20 over the last two years or so... maybe a bit more. We've been _very_ lucky and fortunate to have that sort of exposure to Emm's music. She does have some stuff that's unrecorded and a fairly large repetoire of covers (Crazy Train (OZZY!), Sabotage (Beastie Boys), Straight to Hell (The Clash), Big Bang Baby (Stone Temple Pilots), You Do Something to Me (Paul Weller), I'll Stick Around (Foo Fighters), etc.) James. I was just hoping someone could tell me more about the... *new* Mar. 4 Toronto, On First Canadian Place (12 noon - 2pm) show. First Canadian Place is down by Bloor and Bay, if I remember correctly. I'm not too familiar with the area, is she playing on the street or...? Oh and is she really playing for the 2 full hours, or is that really wishful thinking and Emm'll be playing with other musicians? sorry for the stupidity :-) ~Andrea! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ICQ: 10294764 AOL IM: TheAndyC http://listen.to/canadianmusic - http://listen.to/boots - http://travel.to/thecomfortzone - canadian-music@smoe.org PROUDLY CANADIAN MUSIC WEB RING http://surf.to/canadianmusic ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V2 #43 **********************************
