She was so great on Saturday night...I brought along one of my best friends who has never seen her and has barely heard of her (and her fave singer is Jewel). She thought that Emm was a brilliant singer and kept referring all night to how great she sounded... I absolutley loved "This Mad"... except for all them people who would not be quiet during the song...Emm even said she usually does this song when it is quiet in the room (which you think people would get the hint to be quiet). However, Emm kicks ass live! I lerft shortly after she performed 'cause i didn't want to listen to the P/K's play 'cause i'm not really into them..but i did past the band while i was going sown the steep stairs from the Loop...and my friend asked them, "Are you guys a band?" i started to laugh at her... and i know the P/Kings' felt really bent after a question like that..'cause u know they were thinking that everyone knew who they were...well obviously not everyone! Heehee... Well talk to you all later, Lisa ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Nov 1998 09:41:37 -0500 (EST) From: James McGarry Subject: Re: The Emm show at the lOOP On Mon, 30 Nov 1998 EmmGryner@aol.com wrote: > singer and kept referring all night to how great she sounded... However, Emm There's always a problem with that now... ...but what I find amazing is that Emm can focus on this, with passion, with sincerity through the din. Must be a Jedi Mind Trick ;-) > kicks ass live! I'm not much of a PK's fan either, but I thought they were quite impressive live. They seem to know how to work a crowd for sure. I was pleasantly surprised. Surprised enough that if they were on the bill another time, it wouldn't at all dissuade me from going! :-) > asked them, "Are you guys a band?" i started to laugh at her... and i know > the P/Kings' felt really bent after a question like that..'cause u know they > were thinking that everyone knew who they were...well obviously not everyone! I'm sure that burst their bubble a bit, but its good to keep both feet on the ground too :-) Who knows your friend might end up immortalized in some tour diary... a la the Great Bidini ;-) I'm glad more people are enjoying Emm now, she deserves the recognition! Dead Daisy Records showcase: CICERO (Dylan White) w/ Rayanne and Chris Briscoe Tues Dec 01, 9pm (?I think? I think Rayanne goes on at 9:30 or something, but get there early to be sure) Holy Joe's, 651 Queen W (corner of Queen & Bathurst) 416-504-6699 By the way, some of you may have noticed that the venue has taken out an ad in this week's NOW saying that My Dear Heretic, Claudia's Cage, Pup, and EMM are performing at the Reverb (downstairs from Holy Joe's) the same night. This is NOT Emm Gryner, probably it's a typo for another artist/group in town called "Em". Steve ------------------------------ End of headline-girl-digest V1 #75 **********************************
