[00jnweiser@bsuvc.bsu.edu] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sun, 29 Nov 1998 06:20:30 -0500 From: Darryl Lim Subject: Emm at the Loop Hey everybody!!! This is my first post so I figured that I'd drop in to say hi to all of you and tell you about Emm's show last night at the Loop. Hi!!! Okay, now that's out of the way, on to my review. As usual, she gave another great performance last night. She had Stuart Cameron on bass and Stephen McGrath on drums (Sorry guys if I butchered your names!). Unfortunately, no cellist this time. :( At first, she seemed like she might have been a little under the weather because there wasn't the usual power in her voice. When she did phonecall 45, it sounded a little bit flat. The acoustics of the building didn't help things much either. But as the show went on, her voice really started to kick in, especially on crazy train. At the end on acid, she sounded as good as ever. Then again, every time I've heard her play acid, it's always been spectacular. Anywayz, she played this new song that I've never heard of....I think it's called Julia. It was requested by someone named Trisha. Hey Trisha, are you on the list? Can you confirm this? I absolutely love the piano in that song, it has a really soothing feel to it. Oh well, that's my two bits. For those of you interested, here's the setlist: Hello Aquarius Phonecall 45 Summerlong Crazy Train This Mad---I wish people would shut up when she sings!!! Julia??? Wisdom Bus Acid Oh yeah, before I forget...I have a copy of the performance. If any of you want a copy, drop me a line. Overall, I think it sounds pretty good. There are some flaws here and there; the first 2 lines of hello aquarius were cut out, the sound level dropped once, and the sound of keys rattling. Otherwise, it sounds just like you're there. Depending on your perspective, that might be a good thing or it could be a very bad thing. The crowd chatter is there, but it's definitely tolerable. What's wrong with people, can't they realize when they're in the presence of artistic genius and shut the hell up?!?!?! Anyhow, it's about 6:30 in the morning so I think it's about time I went to bed. Good night all!!! Yup, its _Julia_ and its new and its not the OLP song for those Slean fans in the audience...
