I agree I think. 89 days is like my absolute favorite song on that cd right now (it will probably change next week :) because of the vocals, obviously, and i love that strong bass thinger in the beginnning, you know? I also like the echo-y thing in "keep walking, keep walking" If anyone > else has OLY, i think 89 days on _Public_ is a > a really cool way of looking at Emm's growth as a vocalist > and how working w/ Warne Livesey helped some of the songs > to grow...ya know? I have OLY! :) heheh go me! :) yeah so anyway, I think the song that best shows Emm's growth as a vocalist is YSOHB. Because in the part "tell me" she, well at least it sounds like, is able to hold the note longer and stronger in Publiic than in OLY. And in the "how unworthy" part, she just sounds stronger. Any other opinions of > what works and what (maybe) doesn't? For as amazing as Public > is, I think what's even cooler is how well OLY stands up > to it and she had way less resources and she co-produced > it. Of course Public, I think, is overall stronger, but OLY > is pretty damn good considering ;) Yes i Understand. I just recently got OLY :):) and I love it. The only song that i might have a problem with is "hello aquarius" because i don't like the vocal distortions, they are kind of annoying. And some of the drum beat thingers in OLY just seem kind of odd, but that's just me. I think some sound too 80's-ish. but i'm probably just like that. :) hehe :) > If anyone is interested in a copy of that, I believe A&B > sound still has some, or I'd be willing to try to hook you > up with one. I might have a used one in a couple of days, > but we'll see...:) hehehe well well well. I would all share with you the wonderful story of how i got my copy of OLY, but I've only got 15 minutes, and I don't have the time :) so you'll all have to wait :) hahah guess you really care. yeha. :) emily :) (i'm not really as weird as i seem on this, for some reason this list just makes me crazy. it's all jess's fault. :P :) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 1998 17:34:59 -0400 (EDT) From: Nancy Gobatto Subject: EC - Emm Albums hella, i just have a quick question for those more experienced emm fans: how many albums does she have? also, does she have any singles available. if so, are they hard to find? i love PUBLIC so much i need more. :) thanx nancy :) ************************************** Nancy Gobatto gobatto@uwindsor.ca ************************************** "this is cooling faster than i can..." - --Tori Amos, "Cooling" ************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 1998 17:21:26 +0100 From: Farr Shepherd Subject: Re: EC - Emm Albums Nancy Gobatto wrote: Nancy, Emm has a demo that she put out in 95 I believe called _And Distrust It_. Next she did _Original Leap Year_ which was done on an independent lable so there were no singles that I know of, although shd did do 2 EP's entitled _Girl Versions_ and _Sodium Rainbow_. Next came _Public_ after she was signed to Mercury. As of yet I don't know of any singles but she did do the _Public Speaking_ cassette that you can get from Mercury. This has Emm introducing the songs and telling a little about the meaning. For a more detailed list you can check out Steve and Gian's Norther Sounds site at http://webhome.idirect.com/~nsounds. Hi! I'm Paul, and I'm on way too many mailing lists. : - ) EDA, Fumbler, Candian-Music, Lilith-Fair-Fans, MacMarines... I heard about Emm through the constant mentioning of her name by Steve & Gian & James. They're the guys who run the Northern Sounds web site. Pretty nice guys. Hey, check the liner notes for "Public." I feel like such a doofus :) for (a) not catching her live already [but last time was $15.50 and she was only *opening* for Bernard Butler] So I'll definitely be at BeachesFest. and (b) for waiting this long to pick up her CD -- I just got "Public" a couple days ago and I bought it before picking up "The Original Leap Year."
