Sad that this venue did not sell out. But then again, the Nets can't sell it out either :-/ My girlfriend and I agree about Melanie. Unfortunately I did not have the priviledge of seeing a show on the Secret World tour, but I do have the Secret World video, and I agree completely that there was a big void without Paula. Melanie was definitely buried deep into the background. Seemed like she was more for show than anything else. Yet, the keyboard chick rocked and had far more presence and impact, so it seems that Melanie really wasn't needed. I guess when it's your daughter, your objectivity is compromised - but I am surprised that PG would compromise that much. Paula is a hard act to follow and I thought she had a very powerful impact into the Secret World tour from what I've only seen on video. I was hoping for something comprable. Nonetheless, the show was amazing - and yes, his creativity and energy are incredibly impressive. PG is always full of surprises and this was no exception. I won't spoil it for anybody who's still planning to see a show, but the uniqueness really keeps you engaged and absorbed into the show as much if not moreso than the music itself. I wasn't particularly crazy about this album before seeing the show, but I did think that the way the material was performed live had it come across much better. Combined with the live effects, it seemed that much of the music was definitely turned up a notch or two from the very slow pace of the studio album. And, seeing Tony Levin perform is always a treat. The man has charm and talent combined that few musicians possess. Rock on!
