Hey All, Happy New Year's. I'm just sitting here right now home sick for the night and listening to, "Mississippi", the album version. I'm just kinda' sitting here and listening to her music and voice. It's been awhile since I've done this and I'm sitting here almost getting the same, powerful feeling I first felt when I started listening to her way back in the old Harbinger days. I especially havne't listened to , "This Fire" in actually a long time as well. This album is just genius. It's so much more original, experimental, raw-sounding and organic compared to the other two. *UNPOLISHED* "Neizche's Eyes" is on right now. It's so simple and fuckin' emotional. Just Paula and the piano. Reminds me of when it was just Paula & Jay on stage. She played piano on almost every song and Jay on drums. Hardly a guitar. "Harbinger" is another insanely genius album, yet it's highly produced. I was listening to the Live At the Troubadour '96 bootleg the other day and rememberd how awesome she sounded live with just her and Jay. The Harbinger songs sounded even more emotional and raw compared to the album version. I especially loved it when she improvised more, as in "Happy Home". Although, being backed by a full band, sounds fantastic and she vocally hasn't sounded better than the present, this is reminding me of how much I appreciate the more simpler live shows. There was a sense of an even more intesity with thoughs shows, I feel. I miss seeing her behind the piano and playing an instrument through every song. Some artists (Sarah) have no stage presence with an instrument, however, Paula steals the stage while sitting at a piano. Anyway, I'm kinda' babbling right so I'll stop. I just felt like kinda' letting it out so thought I'd write a bit. It felt good. Well my friends, have a Happy Safe...yet FUN New Year's!!! - -Bri PS...I'm moving to Hawaii for 6 mos at the end of Jan and will no longer have a computer regularly. I'm going for 6 mos to get some R&R and focus on me for a change instead of the pretentious bullshit that work gets me into. I'll be back by mid-summer so I hope don't miss much. I'll try to check once in a while but who knows. Have a great first half of the year! b. Yahoo!
