What did >she sing? > She sang "Amen," a really sweet version, with some really nice nonverbal stuff at the end that just seemed full of yearning. There was a good bit of interview after. She said this was the last night of her tour, and something about taking a break after being on tour for seven years. I think her performance of the song reflected this. She also said she is moving to LA < BIIIG sigh :-( > She also cleared up one thing. The photo on the cover of "Amen" was a happy accident - they were shooting in front of a clock, and those rays surrounded its face. This particular photo just clicked somehow, and she trusted her instincts on it. They did amplify the color on the rays, but otherwise there's nothing more to it. If she does indeed take some time off, it's well-deserved. And any attendant gap in her presence is offset, for me right now, by the new Joan Osborne album, "Righteous Love" - at long last. It's not quite as bold as "Relish," but can she ever put a song across. It's produced by Mitchell Froom, who's done some extraordinarily inventive work with Los Lobos. They are a really good match, and have turned out one of the year's best. It's scheduled for release in a few weeks, but it's already getting some airplay - good old WFUV! Same station that introduced me to Paula, Susan Tedeschi, and plenty more.
