Good guesses. No, I didn't consider the EVE CDROM to qualify, but Kenn and Zia (hi!), that showed good chops. The envelope please........ 1998's GENESIS ARCHIVE 1967-75 was the last "new" CD that Gabriel released. Yeah, I know, it's a cheap trick answer, but to be sure it is a new recording. Why new? Because PG went into the studio to completely re-record the vocals from the January, 1975 concert (The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway) some 23 years later. To a Genesis fanatic like myself, the illusion is EASILY sniffed out.....Gabriel's voice aged considerably over those decades, and sounds distinctly different. Hey, I'm not complaining, it's a killer recording (although, Phil Collins' excellent backing vocals get totally washed out in the mix.....it's interesting to compare to a bootlegged version I have of the same show on a different night). Worth checking out, the 4 CD set also includes two full discs of previously unreleased live tracks and demos. Back to your regularly scheduled PC. It will (not holding my breath) reportedly be released internationally (translation: not in the US) next Monday the 12th. No word on when (or even if) it's gonna cross the pond. Realy diehards should prepare to get import-scalped. I'll post any updates as I get 'em. adieu, JMMJ - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Btw, if you are an AOL subscriber the above instruction will work for your EVERY time. Or just go to petergabriel.com and follow links for it. I ordered mine from there about a month ago and received it within a few days. According to what I read on Gabriel's website, the version that is released in the U.S. may contain a different track than the one that is available through their online store. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Jimmy Mac To: harbinger list Sent: Tuesday, June 06, 2000 8:24 PM Subject: (harbinger) the word on OVO > No release of OVO today (yesterday) as first advertised. > > It will (not holding my breath) reportedly be released internationally > (translation: not in the US) next Monday the 12th. However, I checked the website before typing the message and it wasn't listed anymore... guess I got one of the last copies. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Tim Clausz To: Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2000 12:40 AM Subject: Re: (harbinger) the word on OVO / Bonfires > You can order a copy of OVO from Real World's website (realworld.on.net). > Or just go to petergabriel.com and follow links for it.
