"Be Somebody (Album Edit) - I think it sucks. You can hear exactly where they cut parts of the song to shorten it. They literally cut off the tail end of when she's holding a note. I say skip it (go to track #4 instead). 2. "I Am So Ordinary (Live) - Eh...it's ok. It's almost identical to the version on Disc 2 of Amen (the import). I think this is one of those tracks that shows its true power when you see her live. It's just so much better when the room is quiet with all eyes on Paula, sitting at the piano, with no one else on stage. There's nothing like an intimate evening with Paula, her piano and her black boots. 3. "Pearl (Live) - I L.U.V. the way the band re did the music. Kevin just ROCKS on the guitar. It seems to give the song more power and meaning. Her and Raikiya (sp?) sound beautiful together. Their harmonies sound almost perfect together. However, there are times in the song when Paula (in my opinion) sounds as if she's trying too hard. Her voice, at times, sounds as if she's straining and almost out of breath. She does wail it though and stays strong when holding that one note towards the end. All in all, I love it to death. Paula can't always be perfect. 4. "Be Somebody (Live) - I always liked the album version. It's a catchy song. However, this live version just killed the album version for me. Her voice is so much stronger and you can tell that all her emotions are behind every note, word, breath, etc. I can just see her doing her hand & arm movements on stage. When it first starts off, she sounds a little weak and not as confident. By the time she gets to the chorus, you can tell that she probably just said, "Fuck this...I'm gonna' wail it and who the hell cares.". At least, that's what I think. ;-) And forget it...when it's time for the bridge, you can tell that she has total control of the audience and they're lovin' it; feelin' her emotions and probably holding lighters in the air, waving back and forth. (OK...I was kidding with that part). If you can get a copy of this CD, I'd say get it. We all know that it isn't the easiest to get a hold of a live Paula track. Especially one that is of good sound quality. Both "Pearl" and "Be Somebody" (Live) have excellent sound quality. Well, I must get back to work. Take care and have a groovy day. - -Bri Bri __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo!
