In 1998, when the 'closest' Lilith Fair with Paula on the bill was Minneapolis, I got in my 1989 piece-of-shit Chevy Celebrity and drove 15 hours to get there!!!! (It's still running, by the way, and has over 197,000 miles on it! Easy to do when following Paula all over creation!) And if you don't have a car, take Hellhound! Stay at a youth hostel... do what you have to do, but don't wait around for her to come to you! Do it soon, before it's too late or she gets too famous to do the meet and greet after the shows! As for why she never comes, it's not really up to the artist most of the time... either the venue can contact her people to schedule a show or her people contact venues to get in.... the business is really weird. She didn't even know about these shows in Nevada and California when we saw her in Wisconsin... she only knew about WOMAD. Good luck! The only other person I immediately recognized was the scary screamer guy from New York City. Are you that guy, Steve. Does that mean that you're the guy who was shown hugging on Paula (one shot in particular showed you and your friend who looks a lot like Paula standing on either side of PC with your arms around her)? If so, then you are the guy who loses control and screams "I love you, Paula!!" or any other fanatic thought that comes to mind at the very top of his lungs at every NYC show she's done in the past couple of years. You would also be the one who made a spectacle of himself at the Women In Music concert by screaming and climbing up on stage, with camera in hand. I have little doubt that you are that guy. Please do let us all know, Steve. A good number of the East Coast fans have been wanting to throttle you for some time now for making so much noise at Paula's shows and distracting us from being able to enjoy her singing. His name is Bill and his "friend" (actually his cousin) who looks a bit like Paula is Liz. Me and my friend wendy met them at the Bowery show (we were sitting on line RIGHT behind them) and we chatted and befriended them. Little did we know what a mistake it was, until we got inside and Paula went on! Not only was he screaming at the most inoppourtune moments, but he almost got me kicked out, because i was standing right next to him and he was taking pictures with a flash camera! Then i had the (mis) fortune of running into him again at the Hard Rock live concert, where he dragged me and 2 of my friends up to the front (if you've seen the Hard Rock Live special, i'm the one standing NEXT to the scrawny guy with the green satchel/strap across his shoulder; I'm the one with the grey sweater and hair parted in the middle). And, believe it or not, i ran into this kid AGAIN at the Taj Mahal show a few weeks ago! And of all the freaking luck, we were sitting right next to him and his friends! They played musical chairs with their seats the whole night and almost got the lot of us kicked out! GRRR. This guy has become such a joke to me and my friends that we've even adapted him into a comic strip. So i can sympathise with you whole heartedly, me and my friend wendy were even discussing how we'd have to go cross country to see Paula play without having to run into Bill. If you still dont believe me, you can check out a (joke) page of pictures of me and the above mentioned friends: http://members.aol.com/vinesandthorns/employees.html I can probably even rustle up his email adress if you wanted to send him an...err.....friendly message. :-) Steve > Well, I recognized Kara and Tina from a few shots on BTM2. We called him that before we knew his name. (actually, we still call him that) Peter Stuart was making fun of him during his set. It was really funny! He's pretty irksome...ok, very annoying.... once upon a time, when we were in NYC for the GQ awards (i think it was for that... anyway...), we went to Times Square to see if we could get on MTV TRL or whatever... the only song on the countdown we liked was Alanis's "Thank You", so we asked a girl with a clipboard if we could request it, and she was glad because she "didnt have anyone for Alanis yet" and if we acted like Alanis's biggest fans, chances were Carson would invite us to join them in the studio for Alanis's TRL interview... so, duh! --of course we acted the part and got to come back the next day to be in the studio and that's when we first met Bill... back then, he claimed he was THEE biggest Alanis fan... also said he LOVED Madonna.... now, he is everywhere around NY that Paula is. I get the feeling he likes to follow whoever he can meet--- whoever is accessible.... And in Atlantic City, he said he doesn't like Madonna at all...that he never did... Go figure. Sounds like he likes to change his colors alot, and not in a good way... more of a bandwagon-type thing. Why'd he have to pick Paula? -K&T - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Btw, if you are an AOL subscriber the above instruction will work for your EVERY time.
