Phil once told me that he and Jay had gone back and rerecorded "IDWTW" and "Me" for the videos. He said all they really did was laid down more pronounced drum tracks. "IDWTW" was only available as a DJ promo single (album version and radio edit), a commercial single (album version) and on the video (the "remastered" album version). "Me" was never released as a commercial single. Only the DJ promo single (album version and radio edit) and the video version (again, "remastered" from the album) were available. [Naturally, this only applies to the U.S. stuff. International DJ promos and commercially released singles were also available, but the recordings were identical to the U.S. counterparts.] So, to answer your question, Steven... no, it's not worth hunting them down if you're only interested in hearing the differences in the recordings. The variations are so slight as to be nearly imperceptible and only involve the volume level of Jay's drums. As far as the Dawson's Creek soundtrack goes, I really can't say. I still haven't done anything about getting a copy of that CD. I have to in get it for the discography on the website, but as of today, I've never listened to it. Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 23:45:49 -0500 From: Kara & Tina Subject: (harbinger) "Be Somebody" and Touring (& sorry, Dan) Be Somebody had better do something on the radio waves because its success is directly proportional to the amount of touring Warner Bros. will pay for Paula & Co. to do! (She said so in Detroit.) In Milwaukee, Eric (tour manager) and Paula said there is talk of her opening for Don Henley, but she says she would rather headline at smaller venues than be an opening act. I don't know--it has it's ups and downs... she could increase her fan base by playing to a different audience --after all, if it weren't for her opening up for Melissa Etheridge in 1995, I might be one of those off-key idiots who only knows 2-3 songs!!! Who knows when or if we would have discovered this rare beauty.... I shudder to think of a life without her! At the same time, I worry that she will get too famous and we won't get to see her after the shows. Also, the thought of seeing them at only huge venues.... yuk. Well, she deserves all the success in the world, so que sera sera. Isn't it strange how people with far less talent than Paula are far more successful? Is it luck? Is it timing? Is it just that one song that catches everyone's attention? i.e. You Oughta Know by Alanis...not saying she's not talented--she happens to be on my list of favorites, but she did just happen to release a song that everyone latched onto. Tina said she will post reviews, but I have to say I was quite emotional during the last show in Milwaukee (it being the last show of this 'leg', it's a strange feeling not knowing we'll be seeing them tomorrow or in a week..... (Tina and I saw 10 shows on this leg alone! If anyone is curious, Tampa was the best we experienced.) That was making me emotional enough... but when Paula introduces Be Somebody, she talks about the events that sparked the song and the events that continue to make that song so relevant, and I swear she is only a breath away from crying when she talks about it... my throat knotted and I felt a tear roll down my cheek... I was pretty much teary-eyed and/or crying throughout the rest of the show... So anyway, anyone know the official radio release date? I've got my dialing finger ready to request it often! Peace and Love, Kara---<--<{@ p.s. For those of you who saw her earlier on this leg, Be Somebody and Black Dog replace any songs from Harbinger she was doing (Woman's Hands, Ordinary, Hitler's Bros.) ...I wish the set were just longer instead! They wonder why people think this is her second album---she should do at least one song from Harbinger. p.p.s. Sorry, Dan...we did try to look around, but we are both short and had to rush to get up front the second they opened the doors. The good news is that with warmer weather quickly approaching, she is probably more likely to come out after the show and not be so rushed when she does. It was so God-awful cold and windy in Atlantic City, she didn't even pop her head out! I have a feeling it was the same way in Milwaukee because we froze outside even when the sun was still out. - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Btw, if you are an AOL subscriber the above instruction will work for your EVERY time.
