Warner Bros. has decided NOT to release the "IBIL" 12" single. No reason has been announced, but I'm guessing it has to do with the dismal sales of Amen. As such, the only copies available are promotional white labels and you'll be hard-pressed to find one up for grabs anywhere. Word hit the street last week that WB changed their mind about the deal, so the DJs who got those copies are guarding them with their lives and those who are parting with them are charging arms and legs a piece for them. Happily, I did manage to secure an original LP for myself and can pass this information along to you. There are two remixes. The version I had heard is known as "I Believe In Love (Jonathan's Gentle Mix)" and it is featured as the B side of the album. The main mix (A side) is known as "Jonathan Peters' Anthem Mix." I haven't heard it yet because I don't own a turntable, but I will be listening to it at the beginning of next month when I visit my parents and use my dad's stereo for a private listening party. I'll review it then. If it's even half as good as the B side, I'm going to be ecstatic. Despite Amen.'s floundering ratings, I still can't believe that WB isn't releasing this 12-inch. I mean, Paula rerecorded her vocals and had one of NYC's best DJS do the remix!! It sounds so different and it's so freakin' good. Well, who knows what they were thinking.... Anyway, if you can manage to get your hands on one of these promo albums, do it. I think it's worth the money it'll probably cost you ($20-$40). Check with the dance music websites or try to get in touch with stores that sell 12" vinyl dance LPs, especially those in New York City (and maybe even L.A.). You might find someone who doesn't know what they have on their hands. You'll stand a better chance of getting a better deal then. The highest request I've heard so far in Manhattan was $40. You should probably be able to do better than that. Best of luck!
