Actually, the only time I've seen BNL as a headliner (I also saw them at HORDE and a radio station show, but there were so many bands that it wasn't really a BNL crowd), at Meriweather Post Pavilion last summer, the crowd was extraordinarily receptive to the opening band. It was the Beautiful South, and I only knew one song of theirs going into it ("Old Red Eyes is Back") - I would guess the vast majority of the crowd knew less than that, though there was a visible minority who were clearly big Beautiful South fans. They kept the crowd's attention pretty well throughout, and got a big ovation at the end. The crowd there was a lot kinder than, say, the audience where I saw the Devlins open up for Paula. Or Dar Williams open up for Sarah McLachlan. Maybe it was just the specific people around us, but at both of those shows there were audibly rude comments from people basically asking the opening acts to hurry up and get off the stage. But to agree with you, hol, in general people who have only heard the "radio" Paula tend not to "get" her live performances, and that could be true of the BNL crowd as well. >the show that i'm seeing is a >charity concert. I think that probably answers the question of whether BNL and Paula will have any other shows together. Radio and charity shows usually just pull together some big names for a one-shot deal. But it's a shot I'd like to see if I had the chance. ;-) pax, Sarah ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Btw, if you are an AOL subscriber the above instruction will work for your EVERY time.
