Ump, folks... patience patience... I'm just back in Germany from my L.A. trip, still suffering from jetlag (slept a full eighteen hours...) and am now writing up a review of the Springsteen shows for a Bruce Springsteen e-magazine... priorities first... but I wanted to put up a little review of the Vynyl show this weekend, maybe with a few scans of the photos I took (from 1st row) and one or two songs from the show as sound files if I get them sampled (my soundsampling hardware & software is still from 1988... so no digital line in, sorry!). For now I can say it was a terribly great performance, although they really had dire sound problems. By the encores they had it fixed, but that's a bit late IMHO... Hello all ... Wow. I've been lurking on this list for such a long time now -- it's bizarre to actually have something Paula related to relay from Australia, given that nobody has known who she is here, up until now. And, to be honest, even now people's knowledge is scant! ;) I have been listening to Paula since just after "Harbinger" was released in the US, and Paula is finally coming to Australia next month, although unfortunately (and trust me, I'm being polite when I use that word!) I will not be able to see her as she is only doing shows in Sydney and Melbourne, alas, and only one show per city. (She is only out here for a promotional tour, but is doing shows in those two cities). Does anybody know if there are any plans for her to tour Australia again? There's probably a greater chance of pigs flying, right?! "Amen" was to be in stores here on the 25th, but nowhere seemed to be due to receive copies until the end of this week -- I will definitely let everybody know about the bonus tracks when Warner ship the CD to stores! I have been a fan of Paula's for over *quick calculation* since the start of last year. I was flicking through channels and stopped on a music one that was showing the clip for Where have all the cowboys gone....anyway I fell in love with that song then and there and the next day went on search for the single, got the single next day got This Fire...and from then on I was hooked!! I am going to see Paula in concert this Monday coming and I am VERY excited!! I just bought the new CD yesterday (yes the infamous *australian* version) so I thought it was about time that I joined the damn mailing list!! :) - --about the bonus disk IDWTW is pretty good, it cuts out the verses of the song and just repeats the chorus. feeling love is pretty r&b but after one listen I really like it ..(but I may be biased as I have always loved that song) Ordinary is also really good...so overall very worthwhile if you are importing it!! Anyway bye bye now... ============ Sara Brooke tipppi@hotmail.com "Sometimes you have to take the leap, and build your wings on the way down" - ---Kobi Yamada ======== - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Btw, if you are an AOL subscriber the above instruction will work for your EVERY time. Hey I have just been searching through the archives getting a feel for the list, etc. and it seems that I have already posted something here once before!! I was the sara the aussie fumbler who told the FTE list about Paula coming to australia...so there you go... As for the details of the australian disks, at the moment there is 2 CD's. One is normal Amen that you guys have with a bonus disk The second is Amen with 2 bonus tracks on it. I have the one with the bonus disk.....so if you are importing one get the one with the bonus disk as it is the better of the two. instead of ordering it from amazon you should try some of the australian online cd shops like http://www.chaosmusic.com www.sanity.com.au there prices are in australian dollars, and you will prob find that it will be cheaper than amazon!! - --Sara B - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Btw, if you are an AOL subscriber the above instruction will work for your EVERY time. The interview was brief and very informal, and I was in distress thinking that she was here to perform (and me having no ticket). I guess, however, that she was just passing through as part of her Amen interview tour. She said she hoped to return to the Northwest to perform in Spring (maybe March) 2000. She discussed the combination of romantic (and the fact that the relationship addressed in the song ended) and spiritual (or more universal) underpinnings to "I Believe". She responded graciously to the DJs' appreciation for the honesty, intensity and intelligence of her lyrics. And she briefly (although one of the DJs described her as rolling her eyes when the topic was brought up) discussed Entertainment Weekly's airbrushing (and the subsequent "treachery" of EW's printing of Paula's inquiry about such) of her armpit hair last year. She referenced her incredulity that anybody cares, but went on to allude that America's preoccupation with her armpit hair speaks loudly of our Puritan discomfort with sexual matters. "Ah, sex" she huskily whispered, almost hissed. A preoccupation, she elaborated, that is not shared in other countries and cultures where she tours. She also talked about current heat she's taking, but willing to take, for the spiritual nature of Amen. All in all, it was an easygoing, upbeat interview. This station usually gives plenty of advance warning to the audience when they're going to have a performer in the studio, and yet I'd heard nothing. Glad I happened to catch it!
