Our computer totally crashed and won't even turn on so I am at work and will try to write as much as I can without getting in trouble! Well, there's good news and bad news... the bad news is Paula doesn't play the piano except for one song... BUT that one song is Ordinary!!! We got pretty excited when we heard the sound check and she did Throwing Stones and Ordinary; but she didnt do Stones for the show... here's the setlist: Rhythm Of Life Amen Pearl IBIL Me Feelin Love Free IDWTW Ordinary La Tonya God Is Watching That's everything from Amen except Suwanee Jo and Be Somebody! Well, I have to say you'd never know this was a 'slow' album the way Paula danced and just the amount of energy she put forth... and you can tell her voice has improved cos she really belts out and holds notes for a long time. I think I have time for a few highlights: pardon my typos, btw!!! Rythm Of Life--she does some beat-boxing along with the scratching in background. Amen-- lots of echo effects on her voice, even more than on album, maybe a bit too much, some thought. Pearl--Awesome, as expected... she really extends the SOME on 'willpower, God give me some' IBIL--- she says," when u go home, i want u to turn it up really loud and dance around in your living room cos that's why i wrote it." Feelin Love-- still playing keyboards for it and both Kevin and the bass player get their turns at solos. Ordinary--After IDWTW, the whole band leaves and then just she came out to do Ordinary.. she said, "I havent performed this song in awhile. This is for all my long time fans for standing by me." La Tonya-- Paula and Rakiya (plays piano, violin, and vocals) sound great together and the scream is much more pronounced than on CD. God Is Watching-- no wonder this is her favorite to perform right now! P & Rakiya's singing at the end for all the "love one another"'s is just incredible.... she bangs on the drums (i.e.like Hitler's Bros). She dances around and really lets loose with whipping her hair all arond and jumping and dancing, etc. Well, that's all I have time for... don;'t know when I'll get to check mail again...... Kenn, see you in New York-- we are looking forward to putting a face to the name!
