AMEN [Zia MiChelle Subject: (harbinger) Bandwagons, bravery and brawn.... AMEN Fellow 'harbingers', I just had to jump in here!!! Forgive me for what I am about to say and if it offends some I am sorry. I am really shocked by some of the comments being thrown already about a piece of music that hasn't even been released yet. Come on people for those of us who have stood behind Paula since the 'harbinger' era I think we need to give the forthcoming album a chance. So many times people hear one or two songs that get massive airplay and then run out expecting to hear the exact same thing throughout the whole album. They get home and pop the CD into the stereo and are shocked to see the artist has a more diverse sound than they expected. I think this is highly the case in "This Fire" the public heard "I Don't Wanna Wait" and "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" and went running for the CD. They are what I call trendy bandwagon fans. They don't care about the artist the same way as other fans do. I wonder how many people on this list have never listened to any of Paula's music except for "IDWTW" and "WHATCG". The new CD is just a new spin on the same old Paula who we have come to love, granted we may not like everything we hear or we may not like the album at all. I went down this path with Alanis when "Former Supposed Infatuation Junkie" was released and to this day I can still say I am a fan of Alanis however I do not care for the path she took on the album. At the moment, I like the single "I Believe In Love" but I wanna hear the other tracks on the disc before I will say I don't like the creative path Paula took. It's almost like we are telling the artist we want them to stay the same forever. Sophie B Hawkins took her creativity to a higher level when she released her second album "Whaler" by slowly back from her edgy debut CD "Tongues and Tails" and when it came to her releasing her third album "Timbre" the label tried to hold her back from using a simple banjo on the album. They were afraid her sales would hurt their profit only to find 2 weeks and over a quarter million emails later that the fans wanted the album no matter what. Those fans who stood behind her creative talents did not care. I think those people cutting down the CD should step back and look at the artist and consider how much of a fan they really are. I am very saddened to see Chris put up that page reflecting Paula as a disco artist. Maybe the album is a bit on the disco side but at the current time I think the decision was made wisely since the sound is hot. Look at how Latin and Salsa have burst up the charts for the summer months. Personally, I think Paula has another hit on her hands from what I have heard and I am more than ever excited for the new CD to be released at the end of the month. Just calm down people and actually give the CD a chance...you might be shocked in the end and actually come to love it. That's the way I feel, Amen ~Zia~ - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Btw, if you are an AOL subscriber the above instruction will work for your EVERY time. AMEN Well said, Zia. Of COURSE not all fans are going to love every single song that she puts out, but you know what? As a fan.....you accept what musical path she's going down and support it.....who cares if you don't listen to the CD 90million times a day, just don't put her down for what she's doing.
