It's pretty good, not broken up too much. I like her but I'm not a big fan, though this show is improving my opinion of her. Keep an eye out for rebroadcasts. This is what I get for looking at www.rockontv.com I'm sure some of you are more familiar with MP3 than others, so bear with this, as it's written so that newbies will understand. The real reason I posted this is at the very end, if you want to skip down there. If someone is on the Dar list, please forward this, unless it's already been posted. Peace JourneyBear 1:30 am -2:00 am Monday March 10 (late Sunday night) CNN Science and Technology Week hosted by Ann Kellan, with reports from CNN technology correspondent Rick Lockridge. The Web Music Revolution takes an in-depth look at the digital music-sharing technologies sweeping the internet, including MP3, the most popular music compression software. MP3 gives music lovers the ability to share highly compressed music via downloads or e-mail. However, the technology also permits easy pirating of copyrighted music, an illegal but currently rampant practice. Lockridge talks with some of the internet music "pirates," including a group of college students whose entire apartment is wired for MP3 bootlegging. He also speaks with the other side - big label record companies seeking ways to prevent internet music piracy and protect copyrights and royalties. Lockridge speaks with BMG's top music marketer, Kevin Conroy; Senior Exec. Vice President for the Recording Industry Association of America, Cary Sherman; and cyber-lawyer and Vice President of Global Integrity Inc., Mark Rasch, about what they are doing to stop the flow and copy of illicit music on the net. Lockridge also reports on how musicians are benefiting from MP3, talking with the New York-based band The Fire Ants. With no record contract but a strong local fan base, The Fire Ants used the internet to build a following in parts of the world they had never played. Lockridge also interviews two of the hottest music acts today - a 1940s-throwback swing band called The Cherry Poppin' Daddies, and a 1960's-style folksinger named Dar Williams - who explain where MP3 is taking their art and business. Their words, not mine. I wonder if this is the first time Dar has been on a major network (besides her duet with Pete Seeger on Letterman). _______________________________________________________ Mixx Magazine is Published by NRG Publishing & Design 304 Main Ave., #287, Norwalk, CT 06851 USA mailto:Steve@InterMixx.com Steve Bornstein - Associate Editor 1 800 MIXX MAG Mixx Magazine - Boston, Tina Morris - Editor mailto:Tina@InterMixx.com 8 Park Plaza, #138, Boston, MA 02116 617 423 MIXX InterMixx Webzine, Daryl Hawes - WebEditor http://www.intermixx.com _______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger That's the way to unsub even for poor, benighted AOL users.
