OK... not really. that was just to get your attention. However, it is related to the this article that I found on the net (and which is also mentioned on Robbie's wonderful Like The Winter website). Haven't seen this discussed on the list and thought this one was definitely worth coming out of the dark to share with all of you... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Paula Cole's Maternal Instincts Grammy Award-winning artist Paula Cole is currently on a busy tour schedule -- she is playing on both the H.O.R.D.E. Festival and the Lilith Fair this summer before going out on her own in the fall. Not only has Cole been touring constantly, she's been flexing her acting muscles in an independent film produced by her boyfriend, Seyi Sonuga. The film titled, "Don't Explain," will feature a pregnant Cole making her way through the streets of New York City in a heat wave. "It was 102 degrees, I was wearing a giant Styrofoam belly and full makeup, then I hit my head and had a concussion for two days," she tells JamTV. "It was hard work - very challenging." When asked about having a family of her own, Cole said, "I definitely want children, too. I have strong maternal instincts. I just don't know how to balance this career with a family." Peace. I have a question about the performance for those who were there. She performed a song near the end of the show that we have NEVER heard before... wasn't reggae, wasn't John Lennon, we just don't know but really loved it! Any ideas? The show was sooo good. Didn't write a setlist (forgot the darn pen and paper) but it was pretty much the same as the shows she did in LA just prior to the Washington performance. As Paula and the band took the stage a rainbow appeared in the east and the light drizzle came to a halt. The canyon walls took on a majestic glow and as I recall -- her opening statement to the audience was "look at the east, an incredibly gorgeous rainbow... and over there (pointing at the gorge and beyond) fuckin' purple mountains majesty." Great timing! BTW, anyone having an opportunity to go to a show at the Gorge should definitely go. A great venue, courteous staff, awesome seating and best of all -- out in the middle of nowhere... the Columbia River running along side of it and Mesa's and sheer rock face dropping off hundreds of feet on three sides of the stage. Hope she plays there again.
