[sstewart@NTCGEN01HE.ntc.nokia.com (Stewart] (harbinger) The Troubadour Concerts ["Dusti Yamaguchi" Subject: (harbinger) The Troubadour Concerts Ok, I know this is a little late, but i haven't had time to post anything until now. (Actually when i did try to post something funk happened with aol...arrr). The concerts were totally awesome. On wednesday night paula opened with Working class hero. She was wearing a two layered chiffon (red on outside, tan lining) skirt that was longer in the back than the front. She had a tank top on i think...i forget. I liked the skirt a lot. For the first song she wore a gauze-y long sleeved top with an enormous black feather boa on top. On Thursday night she opened with Suwannee Jo and wore her harbinger black boots. She had on a long tank dress. She also wore this long light intracatley blocked jacket thing with faux fur around the collar for the first song. The rest of the concerts were amazing. Thursday night was by far the best performance. The only thing that kinda annoyed me was there was this group of people that kept yelling "WE LOVE YOU PAULA!" douring the first 6 songs. AAAAAARRRRGGGHHH. At the end of cowboys paula had her own drum set and she was jamming with Jay. That was really cool. You could tell she was having fun. On thursday Me'shell Ndegeocello jammed on the bass for War. AND Sherri Jackson, the very talented opening act, joined her for a duet on the song. The songs (not in any order...i can't remember) Working Class Hero (wed)/Suwanne Jo (thur) Throwing Stones Me Cowboys Mississippi Bethlehem Tiger Feelin' Love I Don't Want To Wait War Hitler's Brothers I am So Ordinary Carmen (she played the guitar -very cool) Jolene La Vie en Rose- wed. night only (avec the pink wig, black gloves, feather boa, and swanky black dress) After the concert on wednesday night i got to meet Jay. He's really nice. What totally impressed me about him was that he was very humble and super duper nice and patient. (I kinda fumbled with my pen and stuff.) Also, he's very cute... Now for the big one- I actually got to meet Paula. There were these absolutley gorgeous roses arranged on her piano. So after the last song she handed them out to the crowd. I was so close to the stage on thurs that girlfriend was in my personal bubble. Seriously. I drew paula a picture (which sucked but i wanted to give her something) that i gave to her on her way out and she gave me one of the beautiful roses. THEN we heard that paula was going to come down to talk to people later so my friend an i stuck around. She eventually came out and i was one of the first people in line. I thanked her for making music that helped me become who i wanted to be. She said that music did the same for her and wished me luck with designing (I told her i'd send her clothes). She signed my cd and now i can die a happy woman. She's only about 5'4" which is REALLY COOL because i thought she was much taller. Anyway, that's my excitement. i'm still totally stoked. I met a couple of harbingers there. Sorry i didn't get to talk to you more, Tina. If you haven't heard the songs "Angel in the House" "So Much Mine" and "Gilded Cage" from the Story's CD "Angel in the House"...I really recommend taking a listen to it. Fantastic songwriting and harmonies. I ended up buying everything I could from The Story, Jonatha Brooke, and Jennifer Kimball. (The two vocalists who both now have solo careers.) I have to agree with Jill :D...Jennifer Kimball's new CD "Veering from the Wave" is a definate must buy. Really unusual melodies, interesting lyrics. "Soldier" is amazing, and she even does a really great cover of the old Crowded House song "Fall at Your Feet" which is gorgeous. >> I just got back from seeing jonatha in wilmington, DE... and she was brilliant. I heartily recommend her live show to anyone who appreciates great guitar work and a rock solid voice. if you like 10c Wings, you're gonna love this show. ~jean aka bH - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 18:20:48 -0700 (PDT) From: TerriG Subject: Re: (harbinger) Jill :D -- gettin' famous Great job Jill ! i read your whole review and now i gotta get the book. :) Good Luck with all of it !! - ---Riphug@aol.com wrote: > > Ok, well, maybe that's a little premature....but I just wanted to let you all > know that my freelance editing business has taken off like gangbusters > or wildfire or maybe a lit fuse -- you can choose your favorite analogy. ;-) > > And I have FTE (the Sarah McLachlan mailing list) to thank for getting me > started in this new career!
