Her import CDs have other tracks which I think are even stronger than some of her CD tracks. (Her BIG MISTAKE CD single has an acoustic live TORN and two other softer acoustic songs in the same style as Torn.) I like her album because it dares to explore different styles instead of keeping the entire album sounding the same. I think it is really well produced. In other music ramblings, I just received an amazing live acoustic boot of a concert by Jonatha Brooke of THE STORY. If you haven't heard the songs "Angel in the House" "So Much Mine" and "Gilded Cage" from the Story's CD "Angel in the House"...I really recommend taking a listen to it. Fantastic songwriting and harmonies. I ended up buying everything I could from The Story, Jonatha Brooke, and Jennifer Kimball. (The two vocalists who both now have solo careers.) I have to agree with Jill :D...Jennifer Kimball's new CD "Veering from the Wave" is a definate must buy. Really unusual melodies, interesting lyrics. "Soldier" is amazing, and she even does a really great cover of the old Crowded House song "Fall at Your Feet" which is gorgeous. I also got a great Paula boot (on cassette) from one of her early concerts. It has her performing Dear Gertrude and a really early version of Cowboys with a more aggressive drum beat. She also had her voice mixed like her recording of the song during the verses (something she hadn't been doing for a lot of the live versions I have heard.) I received another recent boot where she performed Saturn Girl and La Vie en Rose live and they souded GREAT. Supposedly, Rainy Day is supposed to be getting a new Paula boot in a few weeks...wonder if it has the Lennon song, La Vie, War or Free on it? She made a lot of really good points. Posts like hers make this list a pleasure to read! Congrats Jill :D on your new career! (Does that mean I'll have to pay you for the review of my band's CD? ;) ) I haven't heard any news on the upcoming release of the Missy Elliot duet on "Feelin Love" (Latest post was that it would be on the SOUTH PARK soundtrack...no release date.) What about "Working Class Hero"? Has that been released yet? BTW, IDWTW has been on the Billboard top 40 chart for an incredible 47 weeks...and is still hanging on at number 35 (up from last week's 37). It doens't sound like her style anyway, but it's a good song. Like, some songs sure are revealing of her life -- like sort of behind the sceneish like how she talks about friends trying to hold her back. That song is about a struggling singer so to speak, which ruins the image of a song. Does that make sense? Probably not. I am sick right now so I probably don't make sense. - -- Mark - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Sep 1998 01:41:36 EDT From: LBeachMike@aol.com Subject: (harbinger) Cowboy Junkies NYC Show Hey guys...
