Is it worth a watch? Hi Dave Glad you asked. When it first came out there were numerous glowing posts, people were going to see it again and again. It got mixed reviews, so I waited till it came to our local art house. Saw it last week, and judging it solely on its cinematic merit, I must say I was disappointed. As wonderful as Meg Ryan was, after a while I got tired of Nick Cage's one-note performance - yes, his role calls for him to be emotionless, but it wearied me - even though I'm a big fan. Even so, I was hanging in there until the movie was just about over, when it took this sudden turn, which seemed forced, rather than naturally evolved, and left me feeling cheated. I don't want to get too specific, because I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it yet, but I felt I had to say something. If you're interested in the music, buy the soundtrack - then you'll have something tangible for your money - although the scene with Meg in the tub with "Feelin' Love" in the back was a hoot. (Along these lines, I also saw "Sliding Doors," which was better than I'd been told, and was pleasantly surprised by its soundtrack - Aimee Mann, Patty Larkin, Sarah (I think) - nice that Hollywood is picking up on our music.) So, while you will be told repeatedly you must go, let me be that nagging seed of doubt. And if you do go, I hope you like it! BTW, I've been wondering from time to time what you think of your Sarah McLachlan CD's . . . Hello, I'm pretty new to the list, but I was just wondering if anyone did any tape trading? I know on the Sheryl Crow list there's all kinds of trading going on. I've seen Paula live once (and twice next month) but I would love to get a live recording. (I LOVE Mississippi on the Lilith Fair CD). I don't have any Paula to trade, but I have other stuff! 8-) Bill - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Please note the new majordomo address To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ End of harbinger-digest V3 #185 *******************************
