Steve Said: <> <> etc, etc... <> Oh dear Thank you, Paula (always a voice of reason) and sorry, Burr - Well, yes, I did think he was serious, otherwise I wouldn't have said what I did. This is a major problem with this damned/blessed form of communication - it doesn't convey the inflections of the spoken word, which would have tipped me off to the sarcasm and thus led me to the message's intent. In retrospect . . . well hindsight is 20/20, . . . but taken at face value - which is what I did - it's not a very nice attitude. Anyway, sorry, and I now think the topic HAS been beaten into a bloody mess with no hope of recovery. In answer to the Saratoga vs Hartford question, I would say go with the closer show. I don't know anything about the undercard at Hartford except for Donna Martin, who is pretty good but it's not worth driving the extra distance just for her (Sorry, Donna! The album's great!). The venue is nice enough, but it's still a pretty urban setting and the congestion when leaving is daunting. Saratoga gives you Beth Orton, whom I haven't caught yet but I've heard many good things about her. BTW, you west coasters have a treat coming your way. Sinead Lohan will be at The Gorge. Saw/heard her at Arlene Grocery last night, and she was just wonderful. The place was packed - glad to see the word has gone out about her already - and she captivated the audience with her straightforward yet demure presence, simple but adequate accompaniment (2 guitars), clear, vibrato-less voice, and cleverly worded songs. The audience stood in rapt attentive silence for each song, and applauded loudly after each (that's all standers, no talkers, no wankers, if you're keeping score), and she even got an encore - unusual for the first act on a 5-act bill. She and her people were quite impressed that the supposedly tough New York audience was so receptive and respectful. All in all, just a delight. Her album, "No Mermaid," will be released in the states in a couple of weeks, on Interscope Records, and judging from what I heard last night should be well worth owning. Oh, one more thing, Burr - just curious as to whose concert that leap day fiasco was - 2/29/92, a date that shall live in infamy. Many thanks also to Kenn for his invaluable help in tracking this down, and in fact to everyone who has responded. Cheers, Joel - -------- Hi, Thank you very much for all your help, funny you should mention that the lyrics are not sung by Paula Cole, after going on a Dawson's Creek Vigilante around EVERY music shop i could think of i came to watch episode number 5 (i think) and to my supprise they had changed who the song was sung by on the ending credits, as you say Jann Arden! I have not had time to find out whether the song is out, but i doubt it, because i want the song it probably won't be released. All i can say is your help and other's is VERY much appriciated and if you could pass that on to all the people involved i would be gratefull. I will keep you informed if i manage to get hold of the song. "Living in Oblivion" was my favorite song off the Peace CD..It is funny to find this group had a song called "Carmen", not to be confused with Paula's song.....Anything Box reminds me of the late 80's German group Camouflage.....Are there any fans of the early 90's band, The Darling Buds or Single Gun Theory? What happened to them? .................just wondering..Jean _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
