Here's all the news that's new and improved... Tickets for Lilith Fair 98 will be going on-sale for the following shows this week: * Shakopee, MN @ Canterbury Park - tix go on sale *Fri.May 29th* * Toronto, ONT @ Molson Amphitheatre - tix go on sale *Sat.May 30th* (both shows) Tickets for these shows will be available through Ticketmaster on those days. Call them for any further details. For those of you thinking of attending the Ottawa show at Landsdowne Park, I should point out that tickets are NOT being sold through Ticketmaster, but are in fact being sold through ADMISSION TICKETS. For further ticketing info, you can contact them at 613-237-3800 or 1-800-361-4595. A couple of shows have sold out now: these include the first show at the Gorge in Washington State on *Saturday, June 20th*. As well, the first two shows in Detroit at the Pine Knob have sold out. Those sold out dates are *Monday, July 6th* and *Tuesday, July 7th*. Tickets are currently still available for the third show on *Wednesday, July 8th*. In other news, Sarah will be in New York City at Bryant Park on the evening of *Monday, June 1st* to perform a special free benefit mini-concert in conjunction with Levi's, one of the sponsors of this year's Lilith Fair. The company will donate $1 for each concert attendee to the New York-based West End Young Women's Shelter. People wanting to attend can also donate a pair of old jeans as 'admission', which will also be donated to the shelter. If you're in Times Square that evening, be sure to look for the unveiling of a billboard with Sarah on it via video screen just prior to her performance at 8:50pm. Sarah will perform four songs for this event. The show will actually begin at 8pm. Other performers scheduled to play before Sarah are Levi's/Lilith Fair Talent Search winner's Eden White and Antigone Rising. Rebekah will also be performing, just before Sarah. Later that night, Sarah will be seen on The Late Show With David Letterman, performing 'Angel'. And later that same week, Emmylou Harris, Natalie Merchant, the Indigo Girls, Rebekah and Luscious Jackson (all performing at this year's Lilith Fair) will be seen on Letterman on *Friday, June 5th* to perform the song 'Water Is Wide'. Sarah will not be a part of this particular performance, in case you're wondering. And finally, US music video station VH1 will be re-broadcasting their 'Behind The Music' special on Lilith Fair '97 on *Sunday, May 31st* at 9am (EST). Thanks for reading. Peace. This year, for example, Lisa Loeb, Beth Orton, Steve Earle, Diana King, BR5-49 and Bran Van 3000 are appearing. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that more acts will be announced in the next few months. Last year, I went to see Me'Shell Ndegeocello on July 4th and it turned out to be a really nice day. Me'Shell wasn't all that great (her opening act, Sandra St. Victor was much better), but the people in the crowd were very cool to hang out with and extremely diverse. It was one of those times when you really felt like New York City had a sense of community. So, if you have a chance to see any of the Summerstage shows, then go. Unless noted otherwise, there is no charge for admittance. Take a big blanket with you, though. The bleachers and folding chairs fill up very fast and aren't terribly comfortable even if you do get a seat. It's much more comfortable to just sit on the ground, but there's no grass in the viewing area so you'll be sitting in dirt if you don't take something to sit on. :^) Peace. I'll check in periodically, if there are any gaps in the music! What kills me is the radio station's website (www.kissfm.com) says that, in addition to the already overloaded lineup, there are two MORE unannounced superstars - gee whiz, who could that be? There's already Sarah, Paula, Mariah, Shania, Meredith, B-52's - well, it's just nuts. BTW, this is going to be on pay-per-view for $19.95 - check with your local cable company - see the following: Television viewers throughout North America, from the comfort of their own homes, along with concert-goers in Boston, will be treated to three hours of first-rate entertainment via Viewer's Choice; USSB; and Request Television. If it's broadcast live, from 8 - 11, I would think the big acts would be included, but there's no guarantee. I was all set to go for it, too. There have been some outstanding PPV events - Dylan's 30th anniversary tribute, Lilith, Stones - but this might not be up to that level if it only includes the ones they mentioned.
