This sounds like the kind of question Phil could answer authoritatively. It's a touchy subject and it would be good to know. The common belief in the industry is that bootlegging diverts money that would go to official record company product. But what do you do when you already have an artists' entire catalog and you still want more? I'm sure that most people on this list already have both official releases, and any trafficking in live tapes augments their collections without affecting sales. I see pirating, where phony product is passed off as the real thing, as a more serious concern. It would be nice if bootleggers would send artists a share of their profits, anonymously of course, to show their hearts are in the right place. A little far-fetched but possible. Any thoughts, Phil? I've been a fan for quite some time, and I only have 2 CDs, I'd love some other stuff. she rocks.
