The name of the album is La Spada di San Galgano. Paula provides vocals on one twenty-minute song on the album - Das Waldsterben. That's the only one I can think of that you might have heard about on the list. If there is a Celtic CD out there with PC on it, please let me know. :^) Peace. Well, having seen Sarah perform live 16 times, starting with the Solace tour back in '92, I have to say I'm a pretty big Sarah fan. Actually, she's my all time favorite (w/ Tori Amos running a very close second). Now of course, see that I love Sarah so much, I would have to say you should purchase every single thing she has ever released. But, I know that's not an option for everyone. So: I would have to suggest starting with "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy". It is a simply amazing album which you can consistenly see listed in many music critic's list of Top 10 albums of the 90's thus far. It is a truly dramatic and fantastic work, with songs that not only work well with the whole album but stand very strongly on their own. Many people consider this her best work. My second choice for you would be "Surfacing", her newest album. Since it's release last year it has slowly inched it's way into my choice for my second favorite Sarah album. While perhaps not as intense and person as the stuff on "FTE", I think it is still a beautiful album with many, many wonderful musical moments. Of course, with all that said, I think no matter which Sarah album you pick up you will be impressed and find yourself needing more before too long. Hope this helps you out, - -Casey - -+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+--+-+-+-+- casey@tisd.net http://www.tisd.net/~casey/ "If I shed a tear, I won't cage it ... if I feel a rage I won't deny it ... Time for a update!!! Yes the wonderful and musically inclined Zia emerges from the deep dark shadows. Has anyone heard Rebekah? I fell in love with her "Sin So Well" and I bought the full CD yesterday. I think the girl has talent and I see she is gonna be on some of the Lilith Fair dates. It is good to see a more diverse Lilith this year. Also be on the lookout for Chaye. She is a up and coming artist from Ohio who has tentively asked me to manage her. Now just to see if I can make the right moves with her like Paula's management has made with her. :) Chaye has cut her first demo CD and if all goes right we hope to get that into distribution by early June. There is a possiblity that Chaye will be playing some shows in NY this summer so stay tuned for further updates. A major dream for her is to open for someone like Paula!!! Also, the Australians and Kiwilanders need to be on the watch for Margot Smith's first tour. Margot is a product of 'The Church' and just released her 2nd CD entitled 'TASTE'. For those of you else where Margot's CD is available by mail order from Greg's Music World. And if you want more info on her please email me privately and I weill gladly give you more info and send some Real Audio clips of her. I am getting set to put up a few new websites based on primarily female artists and to include links to some GREAT pages out there about some artists I love and adore. Kami Lyle recently appeared on Melrose Place and on tour with Jonatha Brooks. If you can try and see Kami live, she as Paula is a Berklee almnus and was featured on the Lilith Fair tape given away last year. Kami is a wonderful artist and well worth a listen very appealing to people who listen to music to relax. Although, some songs have a more country feeling than I would prefer but I definately recommend the debut Cd from her entitled 'Blue Cinderella'. My two favorite tracks are 'Polka Dots' and 'Hocus Pocus'. Anyways, that is the UPDATE from me.... :) Anyone else just fall in love with Sarah's cut of "Building A Mystery" on the Lilith CD?? It was her breakthrough album, and most likely the starting point for the majority of her present fan base and the general public as well. I heard her second album,"Solace," first, having been introduced to her when she did "Into The Fire" on David Letterman, back in 1994 - a pivotal year for me, as I also discovered Ani DiFranco, Greg Brown, The Nields, The Story, and Dar Williams. But Sarah single-handedly restored my faith in pop music - angelic voice, poetic lyrics, imaginitive yet brilliantly understated arrangements - by far the best artist I'd encountered in years, since Kate Bush - sorry, Lucinda. It's hard to say which is the better album, for they both have so many very good songs, but I would give the edge to "Solace." Of course, you COULD always get both! You might want to consider her first album, "Touch," as it contains some of her dreamier songs, such as "Out Of The Shadows," as well as her hottest number, "Steaming." It's the one song of hers I love that I've never heard her do live, and so want to. If she should get inspired to do that at one of the New England Liliths I would be SO grateful (hint, hint). Ditto for "Shadows." The only song off this album that she does anymore is "Vox," so if you want to hear any of these songs you have to buy the CD. Surprisingly, though, none of these is certain to be included on my Ten Best of the 90's list, because they all have a song or two that I don't much care for. A carefully selected Best Of Sarah would, of course. Would probably be #1. Well, we'll see - we're running out of decade, after all. So, to summarize - Solace, then Fumbling, then Touch. That should get you started.
