(i.e., are they different live performances? Different tracks > from already released albums? Last years lineup? This years lineup?)] The two CDs available through Starbucks are called Songs of the Sirens: Volume I & II. They aren't actually related to Lilith Fair - although many of the artists on the CDs are Lilith alumni and Starbucks is a primary sponsor of Lilith. According to customer relations at Starbucks' corporate offices, they plan to release a Lilith compilation at some point shortly before or after the beginning of the Lilith tour this summer, but it's not available right now. > Also any more news on the Missy Elliot/PCole new version of Feeling > Love? Not really, other than that I'm still wondering how an ancient song like Sarah Mc's "Black" (as good as that remix is...) could possibly be chosen over a new rendition of a new Paula Cole song. That makes no sense to me. > Has a video been shot? Filming of a video hasn't taken place yet, but Feelin' Love is definitely going to be the next single released to radio. No information about whether or not it will be released as a CD single. > Unreleased Bsides planned? Release Date announced? Or are they > just waiting for IDWTW to drop off of the charts? No information on any of those things. I'm starting to think that "Me" isn't going to be released as a CD single, either. It hasn't done well on the Hot 100 Singles chart (last time I checked, it still hadn't appeared there anywhere). It has made it pretty well on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart (it made it up to #17 and is currently hanging on at #19), but that's not necessarily enough to merit releasing a CD single. That's really sad, too. "Me" is probably the best of the three releases from This Fire so far. > Anybody else happy (yet a little frustrated) about the staying power of > Paula's singles? I'm very happy that PC's songs are staying on the radio and video waves for good long periods of time because the more time they are out there, the more likely it is that people will hear it and then go buy the album. I'd like to see Paula rolling in money just like everyone else. However, I would really like to see the songs come out a little faster than they do right now. Otherwise, they end up being played into the ground on the radio and walk that fine line of becoming annoying from overexposure. At this point, I don't think there's another album in the history of music with which I am so totally familiar as I am with This Fire. Figure I've seen Paula in concert somewhere around 13 times now for this tour and have seen and heard the video and song on TV and the radio for going on two years.... I still love the songs a lot, but I'm going to be very ready for the new album when it comes out. Thankfully, I've been able to find some little known Paula music out there over the past few months that has made me a happy guy and Paula continues to keep her live show fresh with new songs like "Free" and "La Vie En Rose." At least we haven't had to deal with all the crap that Jewel and her fans have had to withstand. > The strength of Cowboys seemed to delay the release of IDWTW. The > longetivity of IDWTW appears to have prevented an issuing of a > single for ME (from what I know, ME has only been released on a radio > promo only single). Just curious...did ME do very well on VH1/MTV etc > as a video or did it come and go quickly? The QuickTime video I had of > it looked gorgeous. In the U.S., the "Me" video hasn't received anywhere near the airplay that the other two vids did. I only see it intermittently on VH-1. MTV plays it, but even less frequently (remember they wouldn't even acknowledge PC or her other videos before her 7 Grammy nominations). Like I said, "Me" is not doing well on the pop charts. In my opinion, it's the best song and most beautiful video so far from This Fire and, for whatever reason, it's bitin' it when it comes to popularity. Yet other musicians are burning up the charts with their latest offerings - many of which are utterly uninspired crap from the likes of Mariah Carey, K-Ci & Jojo and other low talent R&B and rap acts (must be the Puffy effect rearing its phat head). Sometimes life just doesn't make sense. Peace. Thanks for reminding me about this CD, Dan. I had spent months searching for it late last year and your post reminded me of it. Must have been my lucky day because I checked on the internet and found it within a half hour. YEA!!!!! Very much looking forward to adding this one to the collection. :^D So, that should go to show that there are probably other copies floating around out there. Peace. Does anyone know what is on it? Thanks! Seb, I'm not sure where you bought the CD from, but if you ordered it from Southland CD, the CD isn't called Autumn Leaves. If it is from Southland, look closely at what they have as a description. It reads: Autumn Leaves - US on Warners advance promo acetate CD-R for Midnight album, f/i That means the song that Paula performs is Autumn Leaves and it appears on a U.S. advance promo CD for the Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil soundtrack. The CD is actually an acetate CD-R, which is a really ugly in-house CD that Warners Brothers produced to test the finished sound of the songs (as with acetate records). Basically it looks just like the recordable CD-Rs you can buy at a local computer retailer (white label and all). It's just something they used before putting the commercially released CD to press. I have a CD-R of This Fire that I'm really very happy to have in my collection because there aren't many of them out there to be had. If you're a really, reeeeeally avid collector of Paula's music, then you'd probably want the CD-R of the Midnight In The Garden... soundtrack. However, if you're expecting that it's going to be something new like a bootleg or the like, that's not what you're getting for your money. Southland doesn't deal in boots. If you want to retract your order, I'm sure the guys at Southland would understand. They're very cool to deal with. Peace.
