This came from Nettwerk- << Hey everyone... As some of you may have heard, we have been selecting all kinds of artists for an appearance on the various stages for this summer's Lilith Fair Tour. However, while we've managed to more or less tackle the problems of the Main and Second stage acts, the Village Stage has been a little more of a challenge. The idea behind the Village Stage is to showcase local talent considered appropriate for Lilith Fair where the tour will be making a stopover. The list of cities in which we need Village Stage acts is listed below: * Phoenix * Albuquerque * Tulsa * Bonner Springs * Indianapolis * Columbus * Rochester * Hartford * Saratoga Springs * Virginia Beach * Raleigh * West Palm Beach * Orlando * Houston (2 dates) * Cleveland * Cincinnati * Pittsburgh * Hershey * Ottawa * Milwaukee (2 dates) It should be noted that this is NOT a complete list of dates for the tour, which we hope to have more details on in the next couple of weeks. Submissions will ONLY be accepted by sending a CD/Tape demo and press kit to our offices at: Nettwerk Productions 1650 West 2nd Ave. Vancouver, BC V6J 4R3 CANADA The deadline for this is the morning of *Wednesday, April 15th*. Submissions will NOT be accepted after this date. DO NOT send me any recommendations by email, as that will not help out the local performer you may consider appropriate for consideration. Have them send their info to the above address RIGHT AWAY, if you have some way of communicating with them. Further details about this are also available at the official Lilith Fair web site, so be sure to check it out if you can. thanks for reading Armand S. They're definitely not the least expensive web music retailer around, but they can definitely get some hard to find stuff. No bootlegs. Their offering of Paula music is pretty limited (some of the Paula stuff (mainly singles) that appears on the site isn't available anymore), but they can still get the European and Japanese imports of Harbinger and This Fire. It's a high quality bootleg of Sarah performance on Storytellers. Whether or not it's taken from the soundboard or from the television broadcast I don't know, but the guy I'm buying it from said it has excellent sound quality and it's his favorite live Sarah CD so far. Obviously, the reason I'm buying it is not only for Sarah's performance, which was great, but for Paula's contribution on "Elsewhere." That was the best rendition I've ever heard of "Elsewhere" - be it in concert, on a bootleg or anywhere else. Paula's voice really added a lot to that song and her solo on the final verse was beautiful. I also think it'll be nice to have that particular lyrical arrangement of "Elsewhere." As you probably recall, Paula did an impromptu rewrite of the lyrics during the performance. ;^) I paid $25 for mine. The guy I'm buying mine from has no more in stock and doesn't expect to receive more. So, check around. If this one's out there, there must be more. Good luck. Peace. That reminds me - just heard that Jonatha will play New York at Town Hall Friday April 24th with fabulous folk/new age harpist/singer Dee Carstensen opening. Dee is a New York native so she may not be on the bill in Cincy, but if she is that will be a GREAT show. >Also at Bogart's....... > >SHAWN COLVIN >with Anna Egga >Saturday, April 25, 8:30pm; $17.50/18.50 > That's *Ana Egge* who is a very talented 21-year-old singer/songwriter originally from Dakota (note the Great Plains connection), now Austin, working in a country/folk/rock style - what they're calling "Americana." I saw this line-up in New London CT Friday March13th - got in an accident on the way but we had gotten such an early start that we still got to the show on time - priorities, you know. Anyway, Ana made quite an impression on the audience, selling nearly 70 CD's out of an audience of 1200. She is self-taught and even built her guitar. She was discovered by Jimmie Dale Gilmore, who was recording at the same studio and liked what he heard. He brought her around on his tour last year. (Shawn said at this show, "Isn't she great? I found her!" which is untrue and I hope she doesn't continue that.) Her album made my Best of 1997 list, as published in Mixx Magazine, which can be seen at www.intermixx.com, Issue #72. Shawn's did not, but only because there's an obscurity requirement. Same with Paula's - as I explain in the preface, once your songs get used as TV show themes you have clearly reached mainstream familiarity. (Besides, as even The Grammys "forgot," these were released in 1996.) Others on the list include Jonatha, Ani, Patty Larkin, Sara Hickman, Jill Sobule, Louise Taylor, Gillian Welch, Kim Richey, Greg Brown (the only male,) Dar, Laura Love, Hart-Rouge, The Mollys, Deborah Holland - check it out! Mucho graphics, so be prepared for a slow download. So what I'm really saying is, I hope you go to this show, you will enjoy it tremendously. OK, I've veered far enough, long enough. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program . . .
