There aren't a lot of those stores around in California (only about 4) and I don't know if it's a nationwide chain but I get cds there for about $11.99-12.99 as an average price. I got both This Fire and Harbinger there for, I think, $11.99. Of course, they don't have singles and stuff (that I know of) but still, if you are looking for cheaper prices, that's the place to go. Or I've seen used cds for pretty cheap at various places like the Wherehouse or this kickass used cd store in sebastopol, ca but that's no use to anyone who doesn't live in sonoma couty in california. =) katie ~~my page o' nothing http://student.monterey.edu/stohlmannkatheri/world/ not for those who are easily offended (hmm i wonder what that means...)~~ - ------------------------------ To unsubscribe, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe harbinger Please note the new majordomo address To buy Paula merchandise from Paula(!) try: http://pw2.netcom.com/~ilml/pcmerch.html Digest, further unsub and problems FAQ at: http://www.netaxs.com/~jgreshes/lists/harbinger.html For This Fire kinda-lyrics write Riphug@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 Apr 1998 19:13:11 From: Butterfly Angel Subject: (harbinger) Music Boulevard I just recently posted about CDNow and many people told me about Music Boulevard. Something weird would be "Les Poissons" from "The Little Mermaid." Now that would be funny. IMHO. I forget who asked about CD Now, but they're very reliable and fast. Prices are average; sometimes they have better prices on older titles. As for the "Toys" soundtrack -- try places like K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc (if you haven't already)...I found one there (and at Sam Goody) not too long ago. Ouch. <<...you could be paying several dollars less a disc at just about > any online store. >> > > *immediate gratification*. This last line says a great deal about our society. But, I'm all for an occasional treat. It feels good to have the freedom to do or buy whatever you want. That's why this is America. I could say that both arguments in this situation can have merit. But I gotta say that I beat all y'all! ;> I've grown up a bit and I don't expect too many folks to understand or believe me until they get older but I buy all my stuff at used bins. Just wait about a year for the college students to graduate and liquidate their collections for some quick cash. You have to be able to wait and not have "the newest thing," hence my allowance that this plan isn't for all. Oh, and you have to live near a university. Smaller towns help too. These little shops don't get put out of business by Borders or Blockbuster Music because they like music, not money. Not only that but small, dirty, "mythical" stores are wonderful treasure chests, many still sell vinyl AND brand new CD's for less than $14. Whoops, too much preaching. On the bonus tip for those who don't like waiting: I got Paula's "This Fire" CD about a week after it was released but it only cost me 8 bones. I'm not condoning the legal ramifications of this practice since the CDs are often promos that somehow find their ways into used bins. It sure is a lot of fun just searching for the music, though. You don't have to be a "consumer" when you buy anything, especially music. Don't succumb to the hype. It helps to like music for what it is -- and like stuff that may not be in style (by mass media standards). Hell, I make my own style, so can you. I DO want to wait. Peace! Paula, Thanks for your courage and perserverance. Thank you for sacrificing a portion of your peace in order to travel the globe to touch people with your music. That much crazy travel has got to take it's toll! You are making a difference in people's lives and it is appreciated. I thought you might enjoy the following poem by the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore. My Song by Rabindranath Tagore This song of mine will wind its music around you, my child, like the fond arms of love. The song of mine will touch your forehead like a kiss of blessing. When you are alone it will sit by your side and whisper in your ear, when you are in the crowd it will fence you about with aloofness. My song will be like a pair of wings to your dreams, it will transport your heart to the verge of the unknown. It will be like the faithful star overhead when dark night is over your road. My song will sit in the pupils of your eyes, and will carry your sight into the heart of things. And when my voice is silenced in death, my song will speak in your living heart. **** Thanks for sharing your gifts!
