Thanks for all of the great suggestions for music. If anyone has email returned to them, try my other email address: fakefinn@hotmail.com My work address (Nokia...the cell phone people) randomly won't relay AOL messages for some Spam-related reason. Whatever. MUSIC NEWS... I just got the piano/guitar sheet music book to Sarah McLachlan's Surfacing. Her arrangements and chords are quite good. I also got the remixes to Sarah's "Sweet Surrender" which I wasn't impressed with at all. Sarah usually does AMAZING new arrangements for her own songs, but I really haven't liked any of the remixes other people have done for her except "Possession" (John Fryer, not Rabbit the Moon.) Did Paula ever release a commercial single for ME or is it just an album cut with an edit sent to radio? Any news on a fourth single/video from This Fire and/or what it would be? Any news on the Paula concert taped for HBO? Has anyone seen any websites that have any parts of the video for IDWTW in a mov format? (Someone was kind enough to point me to a too short clip of ME which was beautiful.) I am still unsure why WB doesn't seem to update the Paula site much. I would think they would change the video to reflect whatever is the current single, but Cowboys has been there for almost a year. Has anyone heard if Paula has changed her setlist for the new tour? (i.e., Saturn Girl, Garden of Eden, The Ladder, Neitzche's Eyes, 9 to 5, Islands in the Stream, or new tracks?) Paula is playing here in Atlanta at the Music Midtown Festival on May 1st. There are about 100 other bands playing that include Indigo Girls, Letters to Cleo, Sister Hazel, Vonda Shepard, Foo Fighters, and Tonic. The festival runs from May 1-May 3. Tickets are very reasonable; $20.00 for a one day pass or $30.00 for a 3-day pass. Visit www.musicmidtown.com for more info. I've been away from my computer all week and, as such, missed out on seeing Paula perform the national anthem. Anyone out there want to do some wheelin' and dealin' for a videotaped copy of her performance? I've got good Paula stuff that I'd be willing to trade for it. Just let me know in a PRIVATE email. The commercial single hasn't been released here in the U.S. yet. The only singles of "Me" available are two promos singles that only feature the album version and radio edit. Here's a bit of trivia for you, though. Last time I saw Phil, he told me that the video and radio edits of "IDWTW" and "Me" are a little different than the album version (aside from the radio version being shorter). He said that he and Jay went back into the studio to lay down different percussion tracks for both songs. I haven't taken the time to listen to the radio version of "IDWTW," but if you listen to "Me" on the radio, you can hear that the brush on the snare and the tambourine are much more noticeable than on the album version. Guess those are the Sullivan mixes. ;^) > Any news on a fourth single/video from This Fire and/or what it would > be? And I agree about the Warner Brothers site for Paula... ugh. That image map on the splash page is really awful. > Has anyone heard if Paula has changed her setlist for the new tour? > (i.e., Saturn Girl, Garden of Eden, The Ladder, Neitzche's Eyes, 9 to 5, > Islands in the Stream, or new tracks?) The U.S. leg of the tour just started back up again yesterday (4/1) out in Oregon, I believe. Guess we'll have to wait for some of those folks to chime in with a concert review.... I'm doubtful that it'll be any different than what it has been lately. Peace. I think that the few singles of Paula's songs that have been released have been pretty good overall. The "I Am So Ordinary" single has two other tracks - "Hitler's Brothers" and a demo version of "Last November." There's the multi-CD of "Cowboys" with all the remixes (not that I am in love with all of those remixes, but there are a couple that aren't that bad...). Only one song - "Ordinary" - was released commercially as a single from the first album. The "Saturn Girl" single was a promo CD. And now, only three songs have been released from This Fire - "Cowboys," "IDWTW" and "Me." Two different CD singles and a 12" single were released for "Cowboys," "IDWTW" had one single and "Me" hasn't been released to radio long enough for a single to have been released commercially yet. So, I guess that's how I would answer your question. There just hasn't been enough released to radio from either of Paula's albums to make for a whole lot of B-sides, etc. Additionally, she has done a bit more guest appearances than many artists do. Give her a little more time and I'd guess we'll be seeing some different stuff on the CD singles. Peace.
